Using Online Help

This page allows you to define trigger actions for the parameters of equipment or location. Tell me more.

The “Define Predictive Triggers” page appears.

Trigger On

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to define predictive triggers for equipment or location. The system provides the options: “Equipment” and “Location”. The system displays “Equipment”, by default.

Code

The identifier of the equipment or location for which predictive triggers must be defined (Alphanumeric, 30).

Press <Enter>. The description of the equipment or location is retrieved by the system. The system also retrieves the trigger details that are already defined for the equipment or location.

Desc.

Parameter

The parameter for which predictive triggers must be defined (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the parameter is already defined as a range parameter in the “Create Parameter” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in the “Active” status.

Press <Enter>. The system fills in the “UOM” field in the multiline.

Help facility available.

Inspection Point

The inspection point on which the parameter must be measured (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure the following:

  • The inspection point is already defined in the “Create Inspection Point” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in the “Active” status.

  • If the Trigger On” field is set as “Equipment”, ensure that the inspection point is attached to the “Equipment – Parameter” combination in the “Create Equipment” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component.

  • If the Trigger On” field is set as “Location”, ensure that the inspection point is attached to the “Location – Parameter” combination in the “Create Location” activity of the “Maintenance Organization” business component.

Press <Enter>.

Help facility available.

The system displays the following field:

UOM

The unit of measurement of the parameter.

Min. Value

The minimum value of the range parameter starting from which the trigger action must be performed (Decimal). Data entry in this field is mandatory if a parameter is specified in the “Parameter” field.

Press <Enter>.

Max. Value

The maximum value of the range parameter till which trigger action must be performed (Decimal). Data entry in this field is mandatory if a parameter is specified in the “Parameter” field. Ensure that the value is equal to or greater than the value specified in the “Min. Value” field.

Press <Enter>.

Note: Ensure that the values entered in the “Min Value” and “Max. Value” fields in the multiline do not overlap.

In / Out ?

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the trigger action must be performed for a parameter value that falls within or outside the range specified in the “Min. Value” and “Max. Value” fields. The system provides the following options:

  • IN – Select this option if you wish to specify that trigger action must be performed for a parameter value that falls within the range.

  • OUT – Select this option, if you wish to specify that trigger action must be performed for a parameter value that falls outside the range.

Do not leave this field blank, if you have specified a parameter in the “Parameter” field. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Alarm Level

The alarm description that must be displayed when the parameter reaches a value within the specified value (Alphanumeric, 25).

Action

Use the drop-down list box to specify the action that must be performed based on the parameter value. The system provides the following actions:

  • Work Order – Select this option if the system should raise a work order based on the parameter value.

  • Work Request – Select this option, if the system should raise a work request based on the parameter value.

  • Alert – Select this option if you just want to indicate the occurrence of an abnormal parameter value and do not want to create a work order or a work request.

The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Work Group

The work group that would be responsible for carrying out the action (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the work group is already defined in the “Create Work Group” activity of the “Work Group” business component and is in the “Active” status. Data entry in this field is mandatory, if you have selected “Work Order” in the “Action” field.

Press <Enter>.

Category

The category of the work order or work request that must be raised (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the category is already defined in the “Define WO Categories” activity of the “Work Order” business component and is in the “Active” status.

Press <Enter>.

Help facility available.

Task / Proc. Code

The task or procedure that must be performed as a part of the trigger action (Alphanumeric, 30). If you are specifying a task, ensure that the task is already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Task” business component and is in the “Active” status. If you are specifying a procedure, ensure that the procedure is already defined in the “Create Procedure” activity of the “Task” business component and is in the “Active” status.

Press <Enter>. The system retrieves the “Task/Proc.?” field in the multiline.

Help facility available.

The system displays the following field in the multiline:

Task / Proc. ?

Indicates whether the code entered in the “Task/Proc. Code” field is a task or a procedure. The system displays either “Task” or “Procedure”.

Parameter

The parameter for which predictive triggers must be defined (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the parameter is already defined as an attribute parameter in the “Create Parameter” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in the “Active” status.

UOM
