Using Online Help

This page allows you to update the values of a parameter for more than one equipment or location at the same time.  Tell me more.

The “Update Parameter Log” page appears.

The system displays the following fields in the “Select Eqp./Loc.” group box:

Parameter

The parameter for which the values must be updated.

Desc.

The description of the parameter.

Zoom facility available.

UOM

The unit of measurement, if the parameter is of type “Consumption” or “Range”.

Parameter Type

The type of the parameter.

Desc.

The description of the equipment (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all equipment / location containing description that is similar to the description entered here, and to which the selected parameter is attached.

Location

The location of the equipment (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the location in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all equipment whose location is similar to the location entered here, and to which the selected parameter is attached

Update On

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to update parameter values on equipment or location. The system provides the options “Equipment” and “Location”. The system displays “Equipment”, by default.

Code

The identifier of the equipment or location for which parameter values must be updated (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all equipment / location similar to the code entered here and to which the selected parameter is attached.

The system retrieves the equipment or location for which the parameter values must be updated, in the “Parameter Values” multiline.

Reported By

The employee ID of the user who has reported the parameter values (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure that the user has already been defined in the “Define Employee” activity of the “Resources” business component and is in “Current” status.

Press <Enter>.

Help facility available.

Reported Date

The date on which the parameter value is reported (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if a time is entered in the edit box alongside.

Press <Enter>. The system retrieves the current system time in the edit box alongside.

The time at which the parameter value is reported (Time Format).

Note: Ensure that you do not enter a future date and time in the “Reported Date” field.

Remarks

Any additional information about the parameter value being reported (Alphanumeric, 255).

Zoom facility available.

The system displays the following fields in the “Parameter Values” multiline.

Code

The equipment or location for which the parameter values must be updated.

Desc.

The description of the equipment or location.

Inspection Point

The inspection point on the equipment on which the parameter is measured.

Value

The value of the parameter (Alphanumeric, 30).

  • The value entered here must be a positive number, if the parameter is of type “Consumption”.

  •  A numeric value must be entered, if the parameter is of type “Range”.

  • The parameter must have already been defined in the “Create Parameter” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component, if the parameter is of type “Attribute”.

  • If the parameter is of type “Consumption” and if “New” is selected in the “Delta/New” drop-down list box, ensure that the value entered here is equal to or greater than the previously updated value.

Delta / New

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the value updated is an incremental value or a new value. The system provides the following options:

  • New – Select this option, if the value updated to the parameter is a new value that would replace the old value.

  •  Delta – Select this option, if the value updated to the parameter is an incremental value.

Do not leave this field blank, if you are updating a consumption parameter. Leave the field blank, if you are updating a range or attribute parameter. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Date

The date on which the value is updated (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory if a time is entered in the “Time” field or if the “Reported Date” field is left blank.

Time

The time at which the value is updated (Time Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if you have specified a date in the “Date” field.

Note: Ensure that the date and time entered here is not later than the current date and time and is later than the previous date on which the parameter has been updated for the equipment and inspection point.

Reported By

The employee ID of the user who has reported the parameter values (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure that the user has already been defined in the “Define Employee” activity of the “Resources” business component and is in “Current” status.

Remarks

Any additional information about the parameter value (Alphanumeric, 255).

The system displays the following fields:

Parameter Value

The value of the parameter before it was updated

Last Update Date

The date on which the parameter was last updated.

Time

The time at which the parameter was last updated.

The system performs the following for a consumption parameter:

  •

all the formula based parameters, which refer to this parameter in the formula.

  •

for all child equipment in the equipment hierarchy having the parameter updation source as “Parent”.

  •

for all rotables that are attached to the equipment having the parameter updation source as “Parent”.

The system performs the following for a “Range” or “Attribute” parameter:

  •

Updates the parameter value for a Range parameter with the value entered in the “Value” field for the Equipment – Parameter – Date – Time combination.

  •

Updates the value of all the formula based parameters, which refer to this parameter in the formula.

  •

Generates the appropriate remedial action, such as raising of work orders based on the parameter value entered and the triggers defined.

For more details regarding triggers defined for parameter values, refer the topic, “Defining predictive triggers”.

  •

Updates the attribute parameter with the value entered in the “Value” field for the Equipment – Parameter – Inspection Point – Date – Time combination.

  •

Generates the appropriate remedial action, such as raising of work orders, based on the parameter value entered.

  •

If the parameter is a conditional parameter, then the system calculates the difference in duration between the last update and the current update in the value and updates the difference to the consumption parameter that has been attached to the attribute parameter.
