This page allow you to modify the details of the tool selected in the “Select Tool” page. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Tool” link from the bottom of the “Select Tool” page. Alternatively, select the hyperlinked tool from the multiline of the same page.
The “Edit Tool” page appears.
If you wish to modify a tool other than the tool selected in the previous page, enter the following field:

Use the drop-down list box to modify the status of the tool as “Active” or “Inactive”. |

Hourly rate |
The usage cost per hour of the tool (Decimal). Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive. |
Quantity (Nos.) |
The number of tools to be inducted in the system (Integer). Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive. If the tool is already referred to in work groups, ensure that the quantity entered in this field is not less than the sum of the total quantity of the tools referred by all the work groups. |
Note: If you identify the tool serial numbers in the multiline, the system calculates the quantity as the total number of serial numbers entered in the multiline.
Tool Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of the tool. The system lists all the tool types that are defined in the “Define Tool Type” activity and are in the “Active” status. Leave the field blank if you do not wish to indicate the type of the tool. |
Item Code |
The item number of the tool, if the tool has already been identified as an item in the inventory (Alphanumeric, 32). The item number must have been defined in the “Item Administration” business component of Ramco Corporate Solutions. Help facility available |
Variant |
The variant code if the item code entered is variant controlled. (Alphanumeric, 8). The variant number must have been defined in the “Item Administration” business component of Ramco Corporate Solutions. |
Enter the following field in the “Sr. No. Assignment” multiline:

A unique serial number to identify each piece of the tool (Alphanumeric, 20). You cannot define a serial number for a tool that has already been assigned to a work group. |
Description |
The textual description of the tool serial number (Alphanumeric, 150). |
Hourly Rate |
The usage cost per hour of the tool serial number (Decimal). |
Note: The system sets the field as zero, if you leave this field blank.
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to set the status of the tool as “Active” or “Inactive”. |
Set the status as “Inactive” if you wish to disable this serial number from future reference in other activities. |

Remarks |
Any additional remarks pertaining to the tool serial number. Typically, the reason for modifying the tool serial number details can be entered here (Alphanumeric, 80). |
Note: Ensure that the number of tool serial numbers entered in the multiline is equal to the value entered in the “Quantity (Nos.)” field.

Click the Delete icon in the toolbar above the multiline to delete the tool serial numbers.
Click the “Edit” pushbutton to update the modified tool details.
The system displays the following fields in the “Record Statistics” group box:

The login ID of the user who created the tool. |
Created Date |
The date and time at which the tool was created. |
Last Modified By |
The login ID of the user who last modified the tool. |
Last Modified Date |
The date and time at which the tool was last modified. |
Editing tool details – An overview
You can modify the details of the tool selected in the “Select Tool” page. The system also allows you to directly enter a tool other than the tool selected in the previous page and retrieves its details for modification. Details such as the tool description, tool type, status, the number of tools and the usage cost per hour of the tool can be modified.
You can change the item code and the variant code for the tool, if the tool should be identified with a different item in the inventory.
You are also provided with the option of entering a serial number to identify each piece of the tool. The serial number must be unique to the specified tool code.
Note: If you specify the serial number under a tool code, ensure that you specify the serial number for every piece of tool inducted into the system under that tool code. Once created, the serial numbers defined for the tool cannot be deleted.
The system displays the equipment code if the tool serial number is also defined as equipment.
The system updates the details of the tool and sets the current date as the last modified date and stores the login ID of the currently logged on user.

You can activate or inactivate a tool in this page. An inactive tool cannot be referred to in other related activities.
Set the “Status” field as “Active” to activate the tool.
Set the “Status” field as “Inactive” to inactivate the tool.
