This page allows you to select the work orders to be initiated and initiate them. Tell me more
Select the “Initiate Work Order” link under the “EAM Work Order Execution” business component.
The “Initiate Work Order” page appears.
Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you know the work order to be initiated:

The work order to be initiated (Alphanumeric, 18). |
Click the “WO Details” link provided alongside to initiate it.
To search for a work order
Enter the following fields in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a work order. Data entry in these fields is optional:
WO No. |
The work order which must be initiated (Alphanumeric, 18). You can enter the work order in full or specify it partially. The system displays all the work orders that are similar to the work order entered here. Leave the field blank to retrieve all work orders. |
Desc. |
The textual description of the work order (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially. The system displays all the work orders whose descriptions are similar to the description entered here. Leave the field blank to retrieve all work orders. |
WO Status |
Use the drop-down list box to retrieve work orders based on its status. The system provides the options: “In Progress”, “Deferred”, “Interrupted” and “Scheduled”. Leave the field blank, if you wish to retrieve work orders belonging to all statuses. The system displays “Scheduled”, by default. |
WO On |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to retrieve work orders that are created on equipment or on location. The system provides the options: “Equipment” and “Location”. Leave the field blank to retrieve work orders that are created either on equipment or on location. |
Code |
The equipment or location for which you wish to retrieve the work orders that are created (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all work orders, created on equipment or location with codes similar to the code entered here. |
Work Group |
The work group which is responsible for carrying out the work order (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the work group in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all work groups, which are similar to the work group entered here. |
Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work order to be retrieved. The system lists all the types that are defined in the “Define WO Types” activity. Leave the field blank to retrieve all work orders irrespective of their type. |
Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the work order to be retrieved. The system lists all the categories that have been defined in the “Define WO Categories” activity. Leave the field blank to retrieve all work orders irrespective of the category to which it belongs. |
Priority |
Use the drop-down list box to retrieve work orders based on their priority. The system fills in all the priorities that have been defined in the “Define Priority“ activity of the “Maintenance Organization” business component. Leave the field blank to retrieve all the work orders, irrespective of the priority attached to them. |
Location |
The location of the equipment for which you wish to retrieve all the work orders that have been created (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the location in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all the equipment whose locations are similar to the location entered here. Leave the field blank to retrieve work orders created in all locations. |
Planning Group |
The planning group of the work order (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the planning group in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all planning groups, which are similar to the planning group entered here. |
Ref. Doc. Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of document based on which the work order was created. The system provides the options: “Work Request”, “PM”, “Maint.Plan”, “Calib. Order”, “Inspec. Order” and “Work Log”. Leave the field blank to retrieve work orders created with reference to all the above document types. The system leaves the field blank, by default. |

Enter the following fields in the “Sch. Start Date” field to retrieve work orders which are scheduled to start during a specific period:

The date starting from which you wish to retrieve the work orders that are scheduled to start (Date Format). |
To |
The date till which you wish to retrieve the work orders that are scheduled to start (Date Format). Leave the field blank to retrieve all work orders that are created till the current date. |
Enter the following fields in the “Sch. Compl. Date” field to retrieve work orders based on the period on which the work on the work order is scheduled to complete:

The date starting from which the work order is scheduled to complete (Date Format). |
To |
The date by which the work order is schedule to complete (Date Format). |
Click the “Search” pushbutton.
The system retrieves the results of the search criteria entered in the “Search Results” multiline:

Enter the following fields in the multiline:
Start Date |
The date from which the work order is initiated (Date Format). The system defaults the current system date, if you leave this field blank for a work order selected for initiation. If the status of the work order that is initiated is “Interrupted”, ensure that the date entered here is not earlier than the date on which the work order was interrupted. |
Time |
The time from which the work order is initiated (Time Format). The system defaults the current system time, if you leave this field blank for a work order selected for initiation. |
Note: If only the start date is entered and the time is left blank, the system defaults the current system date in the “Start Date” field and “0.00” in the “Time” field.
The system displays the following fields:
WO On |
The maintainable object on which the work order is raised. The system displays “Equipment” or “Location”. |
Code |
The identifier of the equipment or location. |
WO Status |
The status of the work order, which can be “In Progress”, “Interrupted”, “Deferred” or “Scheduled”. |
Note: You can initiate a work order only when it is in the “Deferred”, “Scheduled” or “Interrupted” status. A work order that is in the “In Progress” status can only be selected for initiating the tasks belonging to it in the “Work Order Details” page.
Sch. Start Date |
The date on which the work on the work order was scheduled to start. |
Sch. Compl. Date |
The date on which the work order is scheduled to be completed. |
Planning Group |
The planning group of the work order. |
Work Group |
The work group that is responsible for carrying out the work order. |
Type |
The type of the work order. |
Category |
The category of the work order. |
Priority |
The priority of the work order. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the work orders for initiation.
Click the “Initiate” pushbutton to initiate the selected work orders.
The system initiates the selected work orders in the multiline and performs the following:
The status of the work orders that is initiated changes to “In Progress”.
The tasks that are in the “Scheduled”, “Interrupted” and “Deferred” statuses belonging to the work order are also initiated and their status changes to “In progress”.
The details of the status change of the work order is recorded in the work order history.
Click the hyperlinked work order number in the multiline to initiate the tasks belonging to it.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the "Book Parts" link from the bottom of the page to book the items for the work order.
You can initiate work orders in this page.
Carry out a search for the work order to be initiated.
Enter the date and time at which the work order should be initiated in the “Start Date” and “Time” fields in the multiline.
Select the work orders to be initiated in the multiline.
Click the “Initiate” pushbutton to initiate the selected work order.
Initiating work order – An overview
In this page you can select the work orders to be initiated and initiate them. You can directly enter the work order to be initiated, or you can select the work orders by carrying out a search based on the following fields:
the work order number and its description
the maintainable object which can be equipment or location, for which the work order has been created
the identifier of the equipment or location
the status of the work order to be initiated
the work group that is responsible for carrying out the work order
the planning group of the work order
the type, category and priority of the work order
the document based on which the work order was created
the dates within which the work order is scheduled to start
the date within which the work order is scheduled to be completed
The system retrieves the work orders that are in the “In Progress”, “Scheduled”, “Deferred” and “Interrupted” statuses based on the filter criteria entered. You can then select the work orders that are in the “Deferred”, “Scheduled” and “Interrupted” statuses and initiate them. The system initiates the work orders and changes the status of the work orders to “In Progress”. The system also records the details of the status change of the work order in the work order history.
The system also retrieves work orders that are in the “In progress” status in the multiline. You can select a work order in the “In progress” status and initiate the tasks that belong to the work order in the “WO Details” page.
The work order must be in the “Scheduled” status.
