Maintain Identification Details – A summary of the activity

In a collaborative business environment, most companies interact with a wide variety of clients, customers, partners, distributors, suppliers, financial institutions, government agencies, transporters and so on. For effective interactions and document exchanges, companies and products are required to be identified by unique codes or references. These identifiers expedite the alignment of business processes between trading partners. These identification numbers are unique for the company and can be recorded at the company, business unit or the organization unit.

You can record company identification, product identification and tax identification reference numbers allocated to the company by various agencies. You can enter unique identification numbers allocated to the legal entities of the organization or locations that ships or sells products. These identification numbers could be important registration numbers that have been issued by statutory taxation authorities. These identification numbers are required while creating invoices, filing tax reports etc. 

A typical example of the company identification number is the nine-digit D-U-N-S number, a worldwide standard for company identification, which is used for distinguishing unique business locations around the globe. This number is assigned and maintained by Dun and Bradstreet (D&B).

A typical example of the product identification number is the 14-digit GTIN number using an EAN / UCC company prefix which is globally unique to a manufacturer or a supplier. This number is used to identify the product instead of using the internal item code.

This page allows you to select the organization unit and the identifier for which you can enter the identification number. You can also set whether the entered identification number can be used as a standard in all the business requirements. The system also stores the login ID of the user and the system date along with the newly entered identification numbers.

This page also allows you to modify the identification numbers whenever required. You can also delete the identification numbers if it is no longer required.
