This activity is used to map the service items to the services provided by the service provider. In this activity the service items are mapped to the services for a period of time. When “Link to Operation” is set as “Yes” for Item codes, then those items will be available in the Operation module. The standard cost of the items can also be modified in the Sale of Service module only when Std Cost Editable of the Item is set as “Yes” in this activity. For the next version, the mapping of the service items to the service and the effective period through which the service items are available can be modified. Data history is also maintained.
Select the “Product Master” activity under the “Master” business component.
The “Product Master” page appears.

In the header the mandatory fields are represented as bold and in the multiline the mandatory columns are either bold or displayed in a color other than black.
Enter the following in the header:
Type of Service |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of service. The combo is loaded with the values defined in the “Category” component for the Code Type – Sales purpose. The combo is defaulted with the default value defined in “Category” master. |
Version |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the version number. This combo is associated with the type of service. The combo is loaded with zero for the first time. The combo will be defaulted with the latest version number for the subsequent version. |
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the service. The combo is loaded with “Active” and “Inactive”. The system displays “Active” by default on launch of the page. |
Effective From |
The date from which the service is effective. This date should not be greater than the system date. |
Effective To |
The date until which the service is effective. This will be blank during the creation of latest version. |
Enter the following in the details in the multiline:
Item Code |
The code identifying the item to be mapped to the service. Only service items are allowed. |
Note: Only service items that are in active status with usage as ‘Sales’ defined in the Item Administration component are allowed.
Variant Code |
The variant code of the item. |
The system displays the following in the multiline:

The variant description of the item. |
Enter the following in the details in the multiline:
Standard Cost |
The standard cost of the item. |
UOM |
The unit of measurement of the item. On enter of the item code, the sales UOM of the item will be defaulted. |
Link to Operation |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether item code should be linked to operation module or not. The combo is loaded with “Yes” and “No”. The system displays “Yes” by default on launch of the page. |
Std Cost Editable |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether standard cost is editable or not. The combo is loaded with “Yes” and “No”. The system displays “Yes” by default on launch of the page. |
Note: The Item Codes for which the “Link to Operation” is set as “Yes” will be made available in the Operation module. The standard cost of the items can be modified in the Sale of Service module only when Std Cost Editable of the Item is set as “Yes”.
Click the “Maintain” button to save the product master details.
Details are saved for Type of Service – Version combination.
Click the “Create Next Version” button to create the next version for the product master details.
Note: On creation of the next version, the Effective From date of the service for the new version should be greater than the effective from date of the existing version. The version number is incremented by 1.The Effective To date of the previous version is updated as Current Effective From Date – 1.
The system displays the following details in the “Data History” group box:
Created By |
The name of the login user who created the product master details. |
Created Date |
The date on which the product master details were created. |
Modified By |
The name of the login user who modified the product master details. |
Modified Date |
The date on which the product master details were modified. |
Note: Data history is maintained against the Type of Service and Version no. combination
