This page allows you to set as well as modify tax rule parameters. Tell me more.

The “Maintain Tax Rule Parameters” page appears.

Rule ID.

User defined Rule ID to identify the applicable tax parameters for a Tax Type & Tax Community (Alphanumeric, 18).

Enter a new rule id if you need to define a rule id, or enter the existing rule id if you need to modify it. For setting a new rule id, the rule id entered should not already exist in the database. Rule Ids for the Tax type - Tax community combination must be continuous. There must not be any date gap between 2 Rule Ids.

On entering an existing Rule ID, the system displays the From date, To date, Created By, Created date, Last Modified by and Last Modified Date applicable to the entered Rule Id. It also displays all the existing parameter options.

Date From

Enter the date from which the rule id is to become effective, if you are setting a new rule id (Date format). The 'from' date will be displayed if a rule id value is entered by you for modifying its parameters.. From Date must not overlap with the date range of any other Rule Ids of the same Tax type - Tax community combination.

To

The system will display the to date if you had entered the code for the existing rule id for modifying it (Date format). You can modify the to date as required.

If you require to set a new rule id, enter the date to which you require the rule id to be effective.

If To date already exists and it is extended, the system checks whether it overlaps with any other Rule Id's date range.

Tax Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the tax type. The type of tax for example VAT, TDS. The tax type defined for the rule Id is displayed on launch of the page.

Tax Community

Use the drop-down list box to select a tax community, as required, for newly setting a rule id or for modifying an existing one. Tax community is the government authority that administrates the tax laws, for example, India, EU, and USA. The tax community defined for the rule Id is displayed on launch of the page).

Tax Region

Use the drop-down list box to select the required option, Yes, or No. On launch of the page the system displays “No”.

Assessee Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the required option. On launch of the page the system displays “No”. If for the entered tax type assessee type is applicable, the system will display “YES” else, “NO”.

Threshold Criteria

Use the drop-down list box to select the required option. On launch of the page the system displays “No”. If threshold type is applicable for the tax type, the system will display “YES” else, “NO”.

Tax Group

Use the drop-down list box to select the required option. User defined group to which Items / TCDs / Usage Ids are mapped On launch of the page the system displays “No”. If tax group is applicable for the tax type, the system will display “YES” else, “NO”.

Tax Category

Use the drop-down list box to select the required option. On launch of the page the system displays “No”.

Tax Class

Use the drop-down list box to select the required option. On launch of the page the system displays “No”.

On clicking the “Set Tax Rule Parameters” pushbutton, the system saves the details and notes the user id under the field “Created By” and the system date, under the field “Created Date”. The page is refreshed with the saved details.

On clicking the “Edit” pushbutton, the system saves the details and notes the user id under the field “Last Modified By” and the system date, under the field “Last Modified Date”. The page is refreshed with the saved details.

The system displays the following fields:

Created By

The login ID of the user who set the parameters.

Created Date

The date on which the parameters were set.

Last Modified By

The login ID of the user who last modified the parameters.

Last Modified Date

The date on which the parameters were modified7.

Before defining Tax Rule Engines, the applicable tax parameters have to be defined for the Tax Type – Tax Community & date range. The Tax parameters available currently are: Tax Region, Assessee Type, Threshold Criteria, Tax Group, Tax Category & Tax Class. The parameters which will be used in Tax Rule Engine will have to be identified & a Rule Id has to be defined wherein the parameter option should be set to either Yes or No based on the users’ requirements.
