Defining password policy
In this page, password policy can be defined during user login to enhance security. Password rules like maximum length, minimum length, expiry period, account lockout duration, etc. can be defined.
Select the “Password Policy” activity under the “Deployment Administration” business component.
The “Password Policy” page appears.
Enter the following password details:
Password Maximum Length |
The maximum length allowed for the password. By default, the system displays ‘25’. |
Password Minimum Length |
The minimum length allowed for the password. By default, the system displays ‘6’. |
Expiry Period for Pwd (in days) |
The expiry period set for the user password in days. The default value is ’90 days’. |
Password History Count |
The maximum number of password values that should be maintained in the password history. The default value is ‘5’. |
No. of Login failures for A/c Lockout |
The number of login failures that caused the account lockout. The default value is ‘3’. |
Account Lockout Time (in days) |
The number of days that a locked account remains locked out before it is unlocked. The default value is ‘5 days’. |
Send Warning before (in days) |
The number of days before which warning message is sent to the user notifying the expiry of password. The default value is ‘2 days’. |
Expiry Period for Admin Pwd (in days) |
The expiry period for the admin password in days. The default value is ’0 days’. |
Pwd cannot be same as User Name |
Check this box to notify that the password entered by the user cannot be same as the user name. |
Check the following boxes under “Password should contain At least” group box:
1 Upper Case Character |
Check this box to indicate that the user password should contain at least one upper case character. |
1 Lower Case Character |
Check this box to indicate that the user password should contain at least one lower case character. |
1 Special Character |
Check this box to indicate that the user password should contain at least one special character. |
1 Number |
Check this box to indicate that the user password should contain at least one numeric value. |
Click the “Restore Password Policy Defaults” pushbutton to restore the default password policy details.
Click the “Update Password Policy Details” pushbutton to update the current password policy details.
