Defining equipment placeholder details – An overview

Edit Equipment - A summary of the activity

A placeholder refers to a specific area or location on the equipment, which can serve as a “seat” for the rotable equipment. A placeholder is not tangible equipment and can be considered as “logical equipment” for all practical purposes. For example, if there are two motors to drive the equipment, ‘Drive1’ and ‘Drive2’ could be the placeholders to which rotables such as “Motors” can be attached. A placeholder is used to track the movement of a rotable within the equipment, or between equipment.

You can define placeholders for the equipment selected in the main page. The system also allows you to directly enter an equipment code, other than the equipment selected in the main page, and define placeholders for it. You can define the placeholder with a unique code and description. You must also specify the item number and variant of the rotable that can be attached to the equipment through the placeholder. You must indicate the run hours of the rotable attached to the placeholder, in a day. You can set the status of the placeholder and also enter any additional information about the placeholder as remarks.
