Create User Defined Group– A summary of the activity

A location may refer to the physical location of the equipment within the plant, or the location where the equipment may be moved for repair, storage or testing. It can also be any other location you wish to define, such as “Office premises” or “Warehouses”.

This activity allows you to group locations, based on your requirements, to carry out maintenance and other activities. For example, all locations, which are in highly corrosive environment, may require special surface coating and hence can be classified under a user-defined group of locations. This grouping is useful for planning, analysis, review and reporting purposes.

You can enter a unique code for the user-defined group of locations and provide a description and status. You can group any location that has already been defined in the “Create location” activity of the “Maintenance Organization” business component, under the user-defined group.

The system creates the user-defined group, sets the creation date to the current date and stores the login ID of the currently logged in user.
