Enter the following fields in the "Calendar Based" group box:
Interval |
The period after which the preventive maintenance must be carried out on the equipment or location (Decimal). Ensure that the interval is a positive number. |

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the interval is a fixed interval or an actual interval. The system provides the following options: |
|
|
|
|
The system displays “Fixed Interval”, by default. |
|
For more details, refer to the example specified for “Interval Type” in the overview. |
|
Initial Date |
The date on which the first preventive maintenance must be carried out on the equipment or location (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if an interval is specified in the “Interval” field. Ensure that the date entered is the current or a future date. |
Enter the following fields in the "Usage Based" multiline if you wish to define schedules based on usage for the equipment or location:
Parameter |
The parameter based on which the preventive maintenance must be done on the equipment or location (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure the following: |
|
|
|
Note: Ensure that the parameter is unique to the multiline.
Interval |
The value of the parameter after which preventive maintenance must be carried out (Decimal). This field should not be left blank, if a parameter has been specified in the “Parameter” field. Ensure that the interval is a positive number. |
The system displays the following field in the multiline:
Interval Unit |
The unit of measurement of the parameter. |
Enter the following multiline field:
First Due At |
The parameter value at which the first preventive maintenance must be done on the equipment or location (Decimal). Data entry in this field is mandatory if there is an interval specified in the “Interval” column of the multiline. Ensure that the value is not negative. Also ensure that the value entered in this field is more than the present value of the parameter. |

Defining interval schedules – An overview
This page allows you to define interval schedules for the preventive maintenance schedule. Interval schedules are performed at a regular interval. Based upon the last work order generated, the schedule automatically computes the next due date/value by adding the interval specified.
Interval schedules can be of two types, namely calendar-based schedule and usage-based schedule.
Calendar-based schedule
Calendar-based interval schedules are performed at certain time intervals (for example, in two-week or six-month cycles). These schedules are used when the preventive maintenance must be performed at fixed intervals.
You can define the calendar-based schedule by specifying the time interval, which must be added to the date of the previous schedule, the unit of the time interval and the date on which the first preventive maintenance must be carried out for this schedule.
You can also specify whether the calendar-based schedule is of type “Fixed Interval” or ”Actual Interval”. If you define the calendar-based schedule as of type “Fixed Interval”, the system generates work orders on the exact date on which the preventive maintenance is due, irrespective of whether the previous work order that was raised for carrying out the preventive maintenance was completed or not. If you define the calendar-based schedule as of type “Actual Interval”, the system generates work orders after the date on which the previous work order that is raised for carrying out the preventive maintenance is completed.
Usage-based Schedule
These schedules are performed based on the value of consumption parameters. These schedules are used when the preventive maintenance must be performed on a fixed interval value. You can define a usage-based interval schedule by specifying the parameter based on whose value the preventive maintenance must be carried out, the incremental value of the parameter after which the preventive maintenance will be performed and the date on which the first preventive maintenance is due to be performed.
You also have the option of setting the number of work orders that must be generated for carrying out the preventive maintenance based on the schedules that are defined.
“Create Parameter” of “Equipment Induction” business component
Specify the execution option of the schedules
You can specify the type of the interval based on which preventive maintenance schedules must be raised.
Set the “Interval Type” field as “Fixed”, if preventive maintenance must be carried out on equipment or location after the specified period in the “Interval” field irrespective of whether the previous preventive maintenance is completed or not.
Set the “Interval Type” field as “Actual”, if preventive maintenance must be carried out on equipment or location after the specified period in the “Interval” field has lapsed and only after the previous preventive maintenance is completed.
Specify the execution option of the schedules
You can specify the number of work orders that can be generated for carrying out preventive maintenance based on the schedules.
Click the “Calendar and Usage Sch. Independently” radio button to generate preventive maintenance work orders for a calendar-based schedule and for the usage-based schedule.
Click the “Calendar OR Usage Sch. whichever is earlier” radio button to generate a preventive maintenance work order for the earliest of the calendar-based or the usage-based schedules.
Click the “Calendar and whichever earlier in Usage” radio button to generate preventive maintenance work orders for the calendar- based schedule and for the earliest of the usage-based schedules.
