The “Update Parameter Log” page appears.

Update On

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to insert parameter values on equipment or location. The system provides the options “Equipment” and “Location”. The system displays “Equipment”, by default.

Code

The identifier of the equipment or location for which parameter values must be inserted (Alphanumeric, 30). This field should not be left blank. If the “Update On” field is “Equipment”, ensure that the equipment entered here is already defined in the “Create Equipment” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in “Active” status. If the “Update On” field is “Location”, ensure that the location entered here is already defined in the “Create Location” activity of the “Maintenance Organization” business component and is in “Active” status.

On pressing the <Enter> key, the system displays the description of the equipment or location alongside.

Zoom facility available.

Include if source is RTI or Parent

Check the box if you wish to insert the parameter values for a parameter with source as “RTI” or “Parent”.

Press <Enter> on “Code” field. The system retrieves the details of the already updated parameter values.

Reported By

The employee ID of the user who has reported the parameter values (Alphanumeric, 20). Ensure that the user has already been defined in the “Define Employee” activity of the “Resources” business component and is in “Current” status.

Press <Enter>.

Help facility available.

Reported Date

The date on which the parameter value is reported (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if a time is entered in the edit box alongside.

Press <Enter>. The system displays the current time in the edit box alongside.

The time at which the parameter value is reported (Time Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory if a date is entered in the “Reported Date” field.

Note: Ensure that you do not enter a date later than the current date and time in the “Reported Date” field.

Press <Enter>.

Remarks

Any additional information about the parameter value being reported (Alphanumeric, 255).

Zoom facility available.

The system displays the details of the consumption parameters belonging to the equipment / location in the “Consumption Parameters” multiline:

Parameter

The consumption parameter for which parameter values must be inserted.

UOM

The unit of measurement of the consumption parameter.

Value

The value of consumption parameter (Alphanumeric, 30).

  • The value entered here must be a positive number.

  • If “New” is selected in the “Delta/New” drop-down list box, and if the date and time entered in the “Date” and “Time” fields is later than the date and time of the last update, ensure that the value entered here is more than the previously updated value.

  • If “New” is selected in the “Delta/New” drop-down list box and if the date and time entered in the “Date” and “Time” fields is not later than the date and time of the previous update, ensure that the value entered here is more than the previously updated value and less than the next update value.

If, for example, a Parameter “P1” was updated with the following values,

5-6-2002

  2000 run hours

7-6-2002

  3000 run hours

9-6-2002

Delta value of 100 run hours – 3100 run hours

10-6-2002

Delta value of 200 run hours – 3300 run hours

11-6-2002

  4000 run hours

If you are inserting a parameter value on 6-6-2002, ensure that the value is greater than 2000 run hours and lesser than 3000 run hours.

If you are inserting a value of 3500 run hours on 8-6-2002, the system re-calculates the values updated on 9-6-2002 and 10-6-2002 and updates the following values:

9-6-2002

3600 run hours

10-6-2002

3800 run hours

The system then checks if the value updated on 10-6-2002 is lesser than the “New” value updation done on 11-6-2002. If it is lesser, then the system updates all the values, else the system displays an error message.

Delta / New

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the value inserted is an incremental value or a new value. The system provides the following options:

  • New – Select this option if the value inserted to the parameter is a new value that would replace the old value.

  • Delta – Select this option if the value inserted to the parameter is an incremental value.

Do not leave this field blank, if you have specified a parameter value in the “Value” field. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Date

The date on which the value is inserted (Date Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory if no date is specified in the “Reported Date” field.

Press <Enter>. The system defaults the current time in the “Time” field in the multiline.

Time

The time at which the value is inserted (Time Format). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if you have specified a date in the “Date” field.

Note: Ensure that the date and time entered here is not later than the current date and time.

Reported By

The employee ID of the user who has reported the parameter values.

Press <Enter>.

Help facility available.

Remarks

Any additional information about the parameter value (Alphanumeric, 255).

The system displays the following fields:

Source

The source from which the parameter is updated, which can be “Manual”, “RTI” or “Parent”.

Parameter Value

The value of the parameter before it was updated.

The system performs the following for a consumption parameter:

  •

If the date and time at which the parameter value is updated is later than the date of the last update, the system updates the already existing parameter value with the value entered in the "Value" field for the equipment - parameter - date - time combination.

  •

If the date and time at which the parameter value is updated is in between two already updated parameter values, the system inserts the parameter value with the value entered in the "Value" field for the equipment - parameter - date - time combination. It also re-calculates the subsequently updated parameter values for the equipment.

  •

all the formula based parameters, which refer to this parameter in the formula.

  •

for all child equipment in the equipment hierarchy having the parameter updation source as “Parent”.

  •

for all rotables that are attached to the equipment, having the parameter updation source as “Parent”.

  •

Checks for existence of any usage based preventive maintenance schedules for the equipment. If the value of the parameter updated exceeds the 'Next Value' as per the scheduling options, a preventive maintenance work order will be generated.

The system performs the following for a “Range” or “Attribute” parameter:

  •

Updates the parameter value for a Range parameter with the value entered in the “Value” field for the Equipment – Parameter – Date – Time combination.

  •

Updates the value of all the formula based parameters, which refer to this parameter in the formula.

  •

Generates the appropriate remedial action, such as raising of work orders, based on the parameter value entered,  and the triggers defined.

For more details regarding triggers defined for parameter values, refer the topic, “Defining predictive triggers”.

  •

Updates the attribute parameter with the value entered in the “Value” field for the Equipment – Parameter – Inspection Point – Date – Time combination.

  •

Generates the appropriate remedial action, such as raising of work orders, based on the parameter value entered.

  •

If the parameter is a conditional parameter, then the system calculates the difference in duration between the last update and the current update in the value and updates the difference to the consumption parameter that has been attached to the attribute parameter.

Update Parameter Log – An overview

Insert Parameter Values - A summary of the activity

This page allows you to insert range, consumption and attribute parameter values in the parameter log. You can insert parameter values between the already updated parameter values. You can also insert the values, for the parameters which can be updated through the Real Time Integration, as well as the parameters that can be updated from their parent parameters. However, the parameters that can be updated by a formula, and attribute parameters that are identified as conditional parameters, cannot be updated manually in this activity.
