Selecting tool for modification

This page allow you to select the tool to be modified. Tell me more.

Select the “Edit Tool” link under the “Tools” business component.

The “Select Tool” page appears.

Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you know the exact tool to be modified:

Tool Code

The tool for which the details are to be modified (Alphanumeric, 30).

Select the “Edit Tool” link provided alongside to modify the tool details.

To search for a tool

Enter the following filter criteria in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a tool. Data entry in the following fields is optional:

Tool Code	The tool for which the details are to be modified (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the tool number in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all the tool codes that are similar to the value entered here.
Description	Enter the full or part of the description of the tool to be modified (Alphanumeric, 150). The system lists all the tools whose descriptions are similar to the description entered here.
Tool Type	Use the drop-down list box to retrieve tools based on the tool type. The system fills in all the tool types that are defined in the “Define Tool Type” activity. Leave the field blank to retrieve tools irrespective of the type. The system leaves the field blank, by default.
Status	Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the tool to be modified, which could be “Active” or “Inactive”. The system lists all the tools that are in the status specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve details of the tool irrespective of their status. The system sets the field as “Active” by default.
Equipment Code	The equipment code if the tool is defined as equipment (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the equipment in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves all tools with similar equipment codes.

Note: If all the fields are left blank, the system lists all the tools in the multiline.

Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results.

The system fills in the following fields in the multiline, based on the filter criteria entered:

Tool Code	The tool retrieved by the system.
Description	The textual description of the tool.
Tool Type	The type of the tool.
Status	The status of the tool, which could be “Active” or “Inactive”.
Eqp. Code	The equipment code, if the tool is defined as equipment.

Click the hyperlinked tool code from the multiline of the page to edit its details.

Selecting tool for modification – An overview

You can select the tool to be modified. If you know the exact tool code, you can directly enter it. Otherwise, you can carry out a search based on the tool code, description, its type, status and the equipment to which the tool is attached. Based on the filter criteria, the details of the tools, such as the tool code, its description, tool type, status and the equipment code (if the tool is defined as equipment) are displayed.
