Define Task Types – A summary of the activity
This activity allows you to define the various types for classification of the tasks and standard procedures that can be defined for carrying out maintenance activities in an organization. A task is the basic unit of maintenance work that is carried out on the equipment. Tasks can be classified as routine and non-routine tasks. A routine task is a standard or conventional way of carrying out a maintenance activity in the plant. A non-routine task is an unconventional or non-standard way of carrying out a maintenance activity in the plant. A non-routine task is not pre-defined in the system and is generated as and when required from the work order that is created for carrying out a maintenance activity.
A standard procedure is a collection of related tasks grouped together to carry out a particular maintenance work.. A series of tasks to be performed to resolve a particular problem in the equipment can be grouped into a standard procedure.
A task or standard procedure type can be defined based on the nature of the maintenance work to be performed. For example, a task or standard procedure can be of type “Service”, “Lubrication” or “Inspection”. Tasks and standard procedures that are later defined can be classified based on these types.
You can define a task or standard procedure type with a unique code and provide a description and status for it. You can enter a sequence number, which determines the order in which the task or standard procedure types will be listed, in other activities where the task or standard procedure type is used.
You can also use this activity to modify the task or standard procedure types that are already defined. Details such as the description of the task or standard procedure type, its, status and the sequence number can be modified. The system stores the name of the currently logged in user and sets the created / modified date and time to the current system date and time respectively.
