Create Company – A summary of the activity

This activity allows you to create the company. You can define multiple companies for an installation. You can also set the currency – base and parallel base, in which the company would transact. You can also record the mailing address of the newly created companies corporate office and the registered office.

This activity also allows you to create a group company, which comprises of multiple companies. This activity also allows you to create a business unit and a logistics organization.

• Business Unit -  is defined as a logical division of an organization. For example,  the various geographies within a country can be termed as a business unit or the major product divisions of a company can also be termed as a business unit. It is an entity where common budgets, policies, procedures are defined for a part of the organization. For example, you can define operational budgets, sales budgets, manufacturing or inventory budgets or set policies for customer rating, pricing or promotions. A business unit can be defined for a company or it can also span across companies.

• Logistics Organization – is defined as an operational entity which comprises multiple business units. A logistics organization could be a step above the company in the hierarchy level or it could be on the same level as that of the company. Common Master data like the “Unit of Measurement”, “Items”, “Customer” or “Supplier” are defined at the logistics organization to retain uniqueness across the company. Operational information pertaining to warehousing, production, procurement or sales is also maintained at the logistics organization.

You can also assign multiple currencies in which the company is permitted to transact with its customers and suppliers.
