This page allows you to create a segment. Tell me more.
Select the “Create Segment” link under the “Organization Setup” business component.
The “Create Segment” page appears.
Enter the following fields:
Segment Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the segment that you want to create from “Business Segment” and “Alternate Segment”. |
The system displays “Business Segment” by default at the launch of the page. |

Segment |
A unique code identifying the segment (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. |
Segment Name |
A textual description of the segment (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. |
Effective Date |
The date from which the segment is effective (Date Format). Mandatory. The date entered must be after the date on which the company was registered. The system date is displayed by default at the launch of the page. |
Enter the following fields in the “Finance Book Details” multiline:
Company Code |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the company in which the finance books that you want to group under the newly created segment is available. All the “Active” codes identifying the company will be available for selection in the ascending order. The system displays “blank” by default at the launch of the page. |
Finance Book |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the finance book that have to be grouped under the segment. All the “Posting” finance book that have been defined for the selected company and that are in the “Active” status will be available for selection in the ascending order. |
The system displays the following in the “Finance Book Details” multiline:

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the finance books that you want to include under the newly created segment.
Click the “Create Segment” pushbutton to create segment.
The system saves the details of the segment in the segment entity for the company.
Note: If the Period End Dates for the companies included in the segment are not in synchronization for the periods considered for report extraction, then the Report on Balance Sheet, Report on Income Statement and Report on Trial Balance cannot be launched for the Segment. However the system does not restrict creation of segments for such companies. This is to support a scenario wherein the period end dates of the companies are not in synchronization for a year. However for the preceding/ succeeding year, the companies have common period end dates. In such a case, the report can be launched for the segment for the periods with common period end date.
The system also updates the login ID of the user and the system date in the “Created By” and “Created Date” fields.
The system displays the following:

The date on which the segment was created. |
Select the “Collaborate” link at the bottom of the page to record or to view the observations or comments or discussions regarding the document.
