Maintain Formula Input Attributes
This activity enables you to associate attributes to input items of formulae. You can specify all the attributes defined in Inventory for the Input Items required. This activity enables you to specify a range of quantitative attributes and standard value for each item. The details of the attribute values are used during material allocation and for scaling the quantity required for allocation.
Attributes are certain characteristics of an item, which are useful in analyzing the quality of an item. Items are defined in the inventory through different processes in the organization. To keep track of them, each item can be associated with an attribute. Attributes can be classified into two types: “Qualitative” and “Quantitative”. For example, some of the attributes like the color of the oil have qualitative values such as red and black. Items like tyre can have quantitative values such as taper angle, which are measurable within the minimum value of 3 degrees and the maximum value of 5 degrees.
Select the “Maintain Formula Input Attributes” link under the “Formula Model” business component.
The “Maintain Formula Input Attributes” page appears.
Enter the following:
Formula |
The code identifying the formula, whose Output Item Attribute information is to be defined (Alphanumeric, 12). Mandatory |
Version |
The code identifying the version number of the formula (Alphanumeric, 10). |
The system displays the following:
Description |
The textual description of the formula. |
Item Code |
The code identifying the Header item of Formula. |
Variant |
The variant of the item. |
IO Type |
The type of the item, which could be “Primary Input” or “Primary Product”. |
Enter the following in the “Input Attribute Detail” multiline:
Item Code |
The code identifying the Formula’s input item for which the attribute information is to be defined (Alphanumeric, 32). |
Help facility available |
|
Variant |
The variant of the item (Alphanumeric, 08). |
The system displays the following:
Description |
The textual description of the item variant. |
Enter the following:
Attribute |

Help facility available |
The system displays the following:
Description |
The textual description of the attribute. |
Type |
The attribute type, which could be “Quantitative” or “Qualitative”. |
Enter the following:
Standard Qualitative Value |
The standard Qualitative value of the attribute (Alphanumeric, 20). |
Help facility available |
|
Maximum Quantitative Value |
The maximum Quantitative value of the attribute (Integer). This value must be within the “Min Quantitative Value” and “Max Quantitative Value” defined in the Item Component for this Item-Attribute combination |
Minimum Quantitative Value |
The minimum Quantitative value of the attribute (Integer). This value must be within the “Min Quantitative Value” and “Max Quantitative Value” defined in the Item Component for this Item-Attribute combination. |
Standard Quantitative Value |
The standard Quantitative value of the attribute (Integer). This value must be within the “Min Quantitative Value” and “Max Quantitative Value” values defined in the screen |
The system displays the following:

Enter the following:
Scaling Attribute |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the scaling type for Attributes of Type Quantitative. The system lists the option “Yes” or “No”
|
Note: An Input Item of a formula can have only one Attribute with scaling set to ‘Yes’.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the item number for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the item number selected in the multiline.
Click the “Maintain ” pushbutton to associate the attributes and their values to the input items that are used in the formula.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “View Item-Attribute Mapping” link at the bottom of the page to view the item attribute mapping details.
Select “Attach Notes” link at the bottom of the page to attach the notes.
