Set Function Defaults – An Overview

In this page you can specify the default percentage values for ABC analysis, XYZ analysis, the average stay of the item and consumption rate for FSN analysis, the default purchase request, purchase order and manufacturing OUs, and the default purchase request mode.

The various methods of stock analysis are as follows:

ABC Analysis

ABC analysis is an analysis of stock based on Consumption value. The items are classified into three categories, namely A, B and C, in decreasing order of their annual consumption value. The user specifies the value percentage for the respective classes. Based on the percentage specified and the consumption value, the items are classified into the three different classes.

The ABC principle states that applying a liberal control to lower consumption value items than to higher consumption value items can optimize the effort and money incurred on stocks.

XYZ Analysis

XYZ analysis is based on the current value of stock in inventory. Items are classified into three categories, namely X, Y and Z class, based on their inventory value.  The user specifies the value percentage for the respective classes. Based on the percentage specified and the stock value, the items are classified into the three different classes.

FSN Analysis

FSN analysis is done based on the movement of stock from Inventory. Items are classified into three categories, namely Fast moving, Slow moving and Non-moving. The factors to be considered include the average stay in Inventory and the consumption rate of the stock.
