Attach Trailer
This page helps you to attach or detach a trailer to/from a vehicle. The Vehicle Group must be 'Prime Mover' to attach a trailer to the vehicle. You can select the Attach / Detach mode for attaching or detaching the trailer to/from a vehicle. The detached trailer can be attached to the same vehicle any number of times. You can either attach an existing trailer or on specifying the trailer type, Nature - “Owned” or “Hired” or “Leased”, Length/Width/Height details of the trailer, a new trailer can be created subsequently get attached. You can also specify the trailer attached/detached date for which attached/detached reason is mandatory. For the Vehicle Nature “Owned” you can specify the Asset Number along with the Asset Tag details. The trailer owner name is mandatory when the Vehicle Nature is Hired or Leased. You cannot attach a trailer which has been attached to another vehicle. In the Mode “Show History”, you can view the trailer attachments and detachment details.
Select the “Attach Trailer” hyperlink from the bottom of the Maintain Vehicle Details page.
The “Attach Trailer” page appears.
Note: Clicking this icon available near certain fields takes you to the help page of the respective field.
The system displays the following in the header.
Vehicle No. |
A unique number identifying the vehicle to which the trailer has to be attached or detached. |
Vehicle Type |
The type to which the vehicle belongs. |
Status |
The status of the vehicle. Only for the “Active” status of the vehicle, the trailer can be attached. |
Enter the following field details in the header:
Mode |
Use the drop-down list box to select the mode for specifying attachment/detachment of the trailer to/from a vehicle. The combo is loaded with “Attach”, “Detach” and “Show History”. The system displays “Attach” by default on launch of the page. |
Enter the following field details in the “Trailer Details” group box:
Trailer No. |
A unique number identifying the trailer which has to be attached or detached to/ from a vehicle. Only “Active” status of the trailer can be attached to a vehicle. The Vehicle Group must be “Trailer”. |
Trailer Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the trailer type for attaching or detaching the trailer to a vehicle. The combo is loaded with all the values defined in the “Maintain Codes” activity. The system displays the code set as default in the “Maintain Codes” activity. |
Nature |
Use the drop-down list box to select the trailer nature for attaching or detaching the trailer to a vehicle. The combo is loaded with “Owned”, “Leased” or “Hired”. The system displays “Owned” by default on launch of the page. |
VIN |
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) identifying an individual vehicle. A VIN is composed of 17 digits and characters that act as a unique identifier for the vehicle. |
Asset No. |
A unique number identifying the asset. Ensure that the asset has already been defined in the “Create Asset” activity of “Asset Capitalization” business component. |
Asset Tag |
The asset tag of the fixed asset and if the asset number has a tag, ensure that the asset tag has already been defined for the fixed asset in the “Create Asset“activity of the “Asset Capitalization“business component. Mandatory when the Asset has the Asset Tag. |
Note: You cannot specify the Asset Details, when the Nature is “Hired” / “Leased”.
Enter the following field details in the “Trailer Details” group box:
Trailer Owner |
The owner of the trailer. Mandatory when the Nature is “Hired”. |
Length |
The length of the trailer. |
Width |
The width of the trailer. |
Height |
The height of the trailer. |
LWH UOM |
The unit of measurement for length, width and height of the trailer. |
Attached Date |
The date on which the trailer was attached to the vehicle. This date should be less than or equal to the system date. |
Attached Reason |
Any reason pertaining to trailer attachment. Mandatory. |
Detached Date |
The date on which the trailer was detached from the vehicle. This date should be greater than or equal to the Attached Date. |
Detached Reason |
Any reason pertaining to trailer detachment. Mandatory. |
Note: The Detached Date and Detached Reason are visible only when the Mode is “Detach” and “Show Reason”.
The Attached Date and Attached Reason are visible only when the mode is “Attach".Both attach and detach details are visible when the mode is “Show Reason”.
Enter the following field details in the “Trailer Details” group box:
Trailer Remarks |
Any remarks pertaining to the trailer attachment to the vehicle. |
Click the “Save” pushbutton.
The system attaches or detaches the trailer to/from the vehicle.
Note: The save pushbutton is visible only when the Mode is “Attach” and “Detach”.
On every attach of a trailer, a parent-child relationship is created between the Prime mover and the Trailer and on every detach of a trailer, this relationship has to be broken. This is achieved through a movement transaction in Equipment Induction component.
