This page allows you to add a Unit of Measurement (UOM). You can enter its description. You can also decide whether the UOM can be used with fractions while recording transactions. The UOM code can be either the standard UOMs or user defined. Based on the requirement you can define your own UOMs.
Select the “Create UOM” link under the “UOM Administration” business component.
The “Create UOM” page appears.
Enter the following in the “UOM Information” multiline:
UOM |
A unique code identifying the UOM (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. It can be a combination of alphabets and numbers. |
UOM Desc. |
A textual description of the UOM (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. The expansion of the UOM abbreviation can be entered here. |
UOM Class |
A group of UOMs grouped into a class. It may be some predefined uom classes or you may define your own uom class. The system checks for the existence of the uom class and throws an error if it does not exist. The system throws an error if this field is left blank. |

The system displays the following field:
UOM Class Desc. |
The description is fetched from the UOM Class Master based on the UOM Class entered. Also, if the UOM Class is fetched from the Help on UOM Class then again the description is fetched automatically. |
Enter the following in the “UOM Information” multiline:
Decimals Allowed |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether decimals are allowed for the UOM. Set the field to “Yes”, if the UOM can be used with fractions while recording transactions. |
The system displays the following field:
Status |
The status of the UOM. |
Click the “Create UOM” pushbutton to create and save the UOM details
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the UOM for entering item independent conversion details, modifying UOM and attaching notes.
The system updates the status of the UOM to “Active”.
The system displays the following:
Created By |
The login id of the person who created the UOM. |
Created Date |
The date on which the UOM is created. |
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Create Item Independent Conversions” link at the bottom of the page to add the conversion factors for the UOMs.
Select “Edit UOM” link at the bottom of the page to modify the UOM.
