Using online help

This activity allows you to enter all the details related to warranty parts for a particular unit. Apart from the warranty details, you can enter the newly replaced items warranty details. You can also specify warranty details for the sub units. .

The warranty details are managed in the “Maintain Unit”, where in the detailed description of the warranty like sub unit of an item and the warranty start and end dates are specified. A warranty detail of a unit has its own function in various activities and so specifications may differ at various stages. The specifications are recorded in the different activities with the help of “Warranty Details Hyperlink” in the respective activities.

The following are the respective components and the activities through which, the warranty details can be accessed.

Customer Call” activity in the “Customer Call” component

Maintain Unit” activity in the “Unit Induction” component

Maintain Service Work Order” activity in the “Service Work Order” component

The “Warranty Details” page appears.

The system displays the following:

Unit

The name of a unit.

Item Description

The item description of a unit.

Serial No.

The serial number of a unit.

Customer Code

The number identifying the customer of a unit.

Customer Name

The name of the customer.

The system displays the following in the “Warranty Part Details” group box:

Display

Use the drop-down list box to view or enter the warranty part details of a unit. The system displays “Existing” and “Replacement History” as options.

  • Existing: You can enter the current or as on date warranty details of a unit.

  • Replacement History: You can view the previously replaced items warranty history details.

Sub Unit

The sub unit of a unit.

Item Code

The item code associated with a unit.

Help facility available.

Variant

The variant of the item.

Note: Item – variant should be ‘Lot & Serial’ or “Serial’ controlled

The system displays the following in the multiline:

Description

The description of the item- variant.

Serial No.

A unique serial  number of the item- variant

Warranty Start Date

The warranty start date of the item / sub unit.

Warranty End Date

The warranty end date of the item / sub unit.

Replaced By (Serial No.)

The replaced serial number of the item.

Replacement Date

The replaced date of the item.

New Warranty Start Date

The new warranty start date.

New Warranty End Date

The new warranty end date.

Remarks

Additional details pertaining to the warranty, if any.

The system displays the following in the multiline:

Status

The status of the warranty can be either “Existing” or “Existing & Warranty Expired” or “Replaced under Warranty” or “Replaced after Warranty”.

  • Existing: Replacement not done and warranty is active.

  • Existing & Warranty Expired: Replacement not done and warranty has expired.

  • Replaced under Warranty: Replacement is done during the warranty period.

  • Replaced after Warranty: Replacement is done after the warranty has expired.

When the “Warranty Details” link is launched from “Customer Call” activity

The system displays the following:

Unit

The name of a unit.

Item Description

The item description of a unit.

Serial No.

The sequential number of a unit.

Customer Code

The number identifying the customer of a unit.

Customer Name

The name of the customer.

Display

Use the drop-down list box to view the warranty part details of a unit. The system displays “Existing” and “Replacement History” as options.

  • Existing: The current or as on date warranty details of a unit.

  • Replacement History: The previously replaced items warranty history details.

The system displays the following in the multiline:

Sub Unit

The sub unit of the unit.

Item Code

The item code associated with a unit.

Help facility available.

Variant

The variant of the item.

Description

The description of the item – variant.

Serial No.

The serial number of the item – variant.

Warranty Start Date

The warranty start date of the item / sub unit.

Warranty End Date

The warranty end date of the item / sub unit.

Replaced By (Serial No.)

The replaced serial number of the item.

The replaced date of the item.

When the “Warranty Details” link is launched from “Maintain Service Work Order” activity

The system displays the following:

SWO Number

The service work order number of a unit.

Unit

The name of a unit.

Item Description

The item description of a unit.

Serial No.

The sequential number of a unit.

Customer Code

The number identifying the customer of a unit.

Customer Name

The name of the customer.

The system displays the following in the “Warranty Actuals” multiline:

Sub Unit

The sub unit of the unit

Item Code

The item code associated with a unit.

Variant

The variant of the item.

Description

The description of the item – variant.

Serial No.

The sequential number of the item.

Warranty Start Date

The warranty start date of the item / sub unit.

Warranty End Date

The warranty end date of the item / sub unit.

Replaced By (Serial No.)

The replaced items‘s serial number.

Replacement Date

The replacement date of the item.

New Warranty Start Date

The new warranty start date of the replaced item.

New Warranty End Date

The new warranty end date of the replaced item.

The system displays the following the “Warranty Actuals” multiline:

Status

The status of the warranty can be either “Existing” or “Existing & Warranty Expired” or “Replaced under Warranty” or “Replaced after Warranty”.

  • Existing: Replacement not done and warranty is active.

  • Existing & Warranty Expired: Replacement not done and warranty has expired.

  • Replaced under Warranty: Replacement is done during the warranty period.

  • Replaced after Warranty: Replacement is done after the warranty has expired.

The system updates the warranty actuals details.

Note: The new warranty information will get updated to ‘Warranty Part’ details only on closure of the service work order. The same updated warranty information can be viewed when this page is launched from ‘Maintain Unit’ of Unit Induction component.

Action

Use the drop-down list box to select existing items or add new item variants. The system displays the options as “Select Existing Items” and “Add New Item Variants”. The system by default displays “Select Existing Items”.

  • Select Existing Items: You can only select the existing item warranty details of a unit.

  • Add New Item Variants: A provision which allows you to enter the missed out warranty item variables of a unit.

The system displays the following in the “Warranty Part Details” multiline:

Display

Use the drop-down list box to view the existing details of the warranty. The existing warranty part details of a unit.

Note: When the “Action” is selected as “Add New Item Variants”, you can enter the details in the “Warranty Part Details” multiline.

The sub unit of the unit.

Item Code

The item code associated with a unit.

Variant

The variant of a unit.

The description of item – variant

A unique serial number of the item – variant.

The system saves the added items warranty part details.

On Copy task, the selected row from the "Warranty Part Details" will be displayed in "Warranty Actuals details” for updation of the new warranty information.
