This activity allows you to implement the engineering change for an item specified. Tell me more

The “Implement Engineering Change” page appears.

ECR No

The number identifying the engineering change request. The system checks for the existence of ECR number. If ECR number exists, then the system retrieves the item revision details in the multiline and defaults the header information.

The system displays the following:

ECR Desc

The description of the engineering change request.

ECR Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the engineering change request. You can select from "Active", "Inactive", "Authorized", "Resolved" or "Implemented". The status should be "Authorized”, “Implemented” or “Resolved" " depending on whether the ECR is being implemented or not.

The system displays the following:

EC Need Date

The date on which the engineering change is required.

ECR Type

The type of the engineering change request. It can be "Engineering", "Production", "Subcontracting" or "All".

Authorized By

The person who authorized the engineering change request. The system sets the “Login User” in Authorized by only if the ECR status is set to “Authorized”.

Remarks

The remarks specified by the user.

Item Code

The code identifying the item. Mandatory. The system checks whether the items selected for revision in ECR are in "EC" status.  The system ensures that the item is in “Active” status and is valid between the effective from and to date .

Variant Code

The code or number identifying the variant of the item.

The system displays the following in the “Revision Details” multiline:

Current Rev. No.

The number identifying the current revision number of the item variant specified.

Current Short Desc.

The current short description of the item variant specified.

Current Item Desc.

The current description of the item.

New Item Code

The new code identifying the item.

Variant Code

The new code or number identifying the variant of the item.

New Short Desc.

The new short description of the item variant specified.

Effective From

The date from which the item revision is valid. Mandatory.

Effective To

The date till which the item revision is valid. The system checks whether the effective to is later than effective from date.

The system cannot delete the selected row in the multiline if the ECR status is in "Authorized" or  "Implemented" status.

The system ensures that the login user should have "All" or "Implement" EC permissions as defined in “Material Planner” control unit of each of the item under revision. For a new item revision number, the system stores the changed old and new item revision number and also saves the old effective dates. The system sets the effective to date for previous revision as (effective from date minus 1 of new item revision) and the description.

Note:

(a) If “Item Revision” page is visited first and item details are entered in this page and then the “Component Revision” page is visited with the item link. In such case the component changes are specific to the ECR number and the item selected in the Item Revision page.

(b) If the “Component Revision” page is launched directly without entering details in the Item Revision page, then the “Component Revision” changes are applicable for all items in the ECR.

(c) If any activity changes are specified in the Edit Process Plan Revision page, then the changes are applicable to all items for the ECR.

For each component item added/deleted/replaced, the system selects all active product structures of the items specified in the “Item Revision” page for inserting/deleting/modifying the component details. For each of the activity added/deleted/modified, the system selects all active process plans of items using this activity for inserting/deleting/modifying activity details.

For each item with EC status as “Implemented”, the system selects all work orders with order status as “Accepted”, “Firmed” or “Released” and updates the problem as “Engineering”. Finally, the system saves the engineering change details.

The login ID of the user who implemented the engineering change.

Created Date

The date on which the engineering change was implemented.
