This page allows you to create the estimate based on the request for quotation (RFQ). Tell me more
Select the “Create Estimate – RFQ Based” link under the “Estimate“ business component.
The “Create Estimate - RFQ Based” page appears.
Enter the following details in the “Search Criteria” group box:

Item Code |
The code identifying the item. If the item is specified and variant is not specified, then the system checks whether the variant exists for the given item. If it exists then the system displays an error message. If the item/item variant combination is specified, then the system checks if the item exists and is in “Active” status from the “Item Administration” business component. If it does not exist and not “Active”, then the system displays an error message. |

The description of the item under RFQ being estimated. |

The number identifying the request for quotation. |

RFQ Date From |
The starting date in the range of dates from which the request for quotation has to be retrieved. |

The ending date in the range of dates till which the request for quotation has to be retrieved. |

Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the RFQ. The status must be “Fresh”. |

Customer Code |
The code identifying the customer attached to the RFQ. It can also be a prospect customer code |

Customer Name |
The name of the customer or prospect attached to the RFQ. |
Click the “Get” pushbutton to retrieve the estimate details that match the search criteria.
The system retrieves the RFQ details based on the search criteria. The system displays only those RFQ's for which estimate has not been generated and status is ” Fresh”. If for the RFQ, there exists multiple items and if the estimate has been generated for some of the Items of the RFQ, then the system displays the RFQ and item combination for which the estimate has not been generated.
Enter the following in the “Transaction Details” group box:

Estimate No. |
A unique number identifying the estimate. If the estimate number is specified, then it should not already exist for the login Business Unit. If the estimate number has not been specified, then the system generates a number based on the numbering scheme from “Numbering Class” business component defined in inventory. The system displays the “Default Numbering Type” by default on launch of the page. |
The system displays the following in the “Transaction Details” group box:

Version |
The number identifying the version of the estimate being created. |

Status |
The status of the estimate being created. It can be "Draft", "Authorized", "Quoted" or "Inactive". |
Enter the following in the “Transaction Details” group box:

Estimate Date |
The date on which the estimate is created. If the date is not specified then the system displays the “Current Date” as the default date. If the date is specified, then it should be in the correct Date Format. |

Project |
The name of the project as defined in MAC (Management Accounting) business component. If the project is specified, then the system checks for its existence in the “Order Definition Settlement and Costing” business component. If the project does not exist, then the system displays an error message. |

Estimated By |
Use the drop-down list box to select the “Estimated By” of type “Maintained By” as defined in the control units from “Organization Model” business component for which the login user has “All” access permissions to the login Business Unit. If the default value exists through “Save Template” field then the system defaults this field with the saved value. Otherwise, displays the “First Value” as the default value. |

Save Template |
Select the checkbox to save the default fields defined for RFQ estimation. |

Enter the following in the “RFQ Details” multiline:

Plant |
Use the drop-down list box to select the valid plants. The system retrieves the warehouse Organization Units mapped to the estimate Organization Units from the “CIM Model” business component. The system displays “First Value” by default on launch of the page. |

Estimate Basis |
Use the drop-down list box to select the estimate basis. You can select “PP”. |
|
Estimate Level |
Use the drop-down list box to select the level of estimate. The system displays “Single” by default on launch of the page. |

Estimate PS |
The number identifying the product structure of the item being estimated. If the product structure is specified, then the system checks if the product structure exists and is in “Active” status for the login Business Unit from the “Bill of Material Model” business component. If the product structure does not exist and is not active, then the system displays an error message. If the product structure is specified, then the system checks if the product structure is valid for the specified estimate date. If it is not valid, then the system displays an error message. The estimate product structure cannot be left blank, if the item and variant are left blank. |

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the estimate for creating its details.
Click the “Create Estimate” pushbutton to create request for quotation-based estimates.
The system checks the status of the RFQ from “Quotation” business component. If the quantity breaks are specified, then the system calculates the material and process cost of the item considering quantity breaks as the estimate quantity. The unit costs for each item in the multiline has to be calculated for the required quantity and the quantity breaks (if any) as the total cost without overheads divided by quantity. The total cost without overheads is calculated as the sum of material and process costs. The system saves the estimate details and when the page is refreshed the version should be set to “Zero” and the status should be set to “Draft”.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Estimate” link at the bottom of the page to modify the estimate details.
Select the “Attach Notes” link at the bottom of the page to attach notes.

The login ID of the user who created RFQ based estimate. |

The date on which RFQ based estimate was created. |
Create Estimate – RFQ Based - An overview
The RFQ is prepared upon the customer requirements. You can select the RFQ in “Fresh” status for which estimation has to be done. You can search and retrieve the items, the date and status on which the request for quotation was created along with the customer details by specifying the required details in the search criteria. Item details can be retrieved from RFQ if estimate for that line item has not been generated or the estimate is in “inactive” status
You can estimate for all the items belonging to the selected RFQ with action type as “Estimate” in RFQ screen provided estimate has not been generated already or the estimate is in “Inactive” status. You can retrieve the item along with the required quantity and date details onto the multiline. You can also select the corresponding product structure and the process plan associated with the item or the system automatically retrieves the product structure and process plan. You can also specify the break ups in quantity of the item and can estimate for each of the quantity break up. You have the option of choosing manual or automatic generation of the estimate. Either of the case the date of estimation has to be specified. The system updates and displays the status and version of the estimate created.
Mandatory
RFQ number must be defined in the in the “Create Request for Quotation” activity of the “Quotation” business component.
Optional
Item must be defined in the “Maintain Item – Basic Information” activity of the “Item Administration” business component.
Product structure must be defined in the “Create Product Structure” activity of the “Bill of Material Model” business component.
Process plan must be defined in the “Create Item Process Plan” activity of the “Process Model” business component.
