The “Create Types” page appears.

Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the object for which type must be defined. The system displays “Activity” by default on launch of the page. If the type is selected, then the system retrieves the details for the type, purpose and maintained by combination. The options available are:

  • Resource – indicates that the resource can be anything like labor, work centers, machines, equipment, transport vehicles, that adds value to a product or service in a production environment.

  • Activity – indicates that the activity is a well-defined task or work to be completed by a particular resource, done essentially in one location.

  • Process Plan – indicates that the process plan is information detailing the method of manufacture of a particular item. It includes the activities to be performed, their sequence, the various resources involved, and the standards for setup and run.

  • Bill of Resource – indicates that the bill of resource is a list of required capacity on key resources needed to manufacture a unit of selected item. Bill of resources is used for RCCP.

  • Notes – indicates the type identified as notes.

Purpose

Use the drop-down list box to select the purpose at which the type must be defined for the selected object. The system displays “Blank” by default on launch of the page. The options available are:

  • RCCP – indicates the process of converting the master production schedule into requirements for key resources rough-cut capacity plan. This is essentially used for aggregate planning over a longer horizon.

  • CRP – indicates the function of establishing, measuring and adjusting limits or levels of capacity over a shorter horizon.

  • Blank – indicates a blank value.

Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the type. The system displays “Active” by default on launch of the page. The options available are:

  • Active – indicates a valid type.

  • Draft – indicates an incomplete type.

  • Inactive – indicates an invalid type.

Note: The status can be modified through the “Edit Types” screen.

Maintained By

Use the drop-down list box to select the “Maintained By” control units for which the login user has at least “View” access permission. The system displays “Default Control Unit” by default as defined for the login user.

The system retrieves all the type details for the selected values of type, purpose, status and maintained by in the multiline.

Type Name

The unique name identifying the type that is being defined for each of the object selected in the type field. Mandatory. The type name should not be left blank .

Desc.

The description for the type being defined. Mandatory. The type description should not be left blank .

Note: If new type name is added for each of the type then the system does not allow duplication of the type name in the corresponding type master. For example, for the type selected as  “Resource”, if the type name is added for the selected type, then there should not be any duplication in the resource type master.

The system ensures that the login user has at least “All” access permission to the “Maintained By” control unit of the type. The system adds a new type name without duplicating it in the respective type master. The system saves the type details for the new type created. If type field is set to “Notes”, then the system saves the purpose field value with “Blank”.

The login user ID and the system date are updated in the “Created By” and “Created Date” fields.

To proceed, carry out the following

The system displays the following:

Created By

The login user ID of the person who has created the types.

Created Date

The date on which the types was created.
