Create Planning Hierarchy – A summary of the activity

The planning group has similar planning characteristics in terms of material requirements, resource requirements or lead times. For example, a company manufacturing pens can have a planning group "Pen" that represents both ink-pens and ball-pens it manufactures. Ink pens and ball-pens can have similar raw material requirements. Hence, a hierarchy is defined between "Pen" and Ink pen and ball pen.

Hierarchy for a planning group indicates all the items that are classified under that group. The planning group for which hierarchy must be defined is selected. You can either enter the planning group if known or can make use of the help facility. You can specify the validity period of the hierarchy to be defined. All the corresponding planning groups, items with its variant details are retrieved by the system in the multiline. The purpose of this page is to facilitate group level planning instead of planning for each item individually. The page facilitates you to make use of the link below the page to edit the planning hierarchy details. The selected status of the planning group is updated by the system accordingly.
