Clearance Permit - An Overview

You can set the options for various fields in the “Clearance Permit” business component in this activity. You can set the options for the following:

Create automatic clearance request or permit

When this option is set, clearance requests or permits will be automatically created in the “Work Order”, “Inspection Order” and the “Calibration Order” business components, provided clearance requests or permits are requested to be generated in the respective business components.

Close clearance request automatically

When this option is set, clearance requests based on which clearance permits are raised would be closed once the clearance permits are closed.

Allow closing of permit without returning

When this option is set, clearance permits that are in the “Approved” or Extended” statuses are allowed to be closed even if they are not yet returned to the issuing department.

Allow closing of work order without returning permit

When this option is set, work orders can be closed even if clearance permits that are created for the work order are not yet returned.

Allow closing of inspection order without returning permit

When this option is set, inspection orders can be closed even if clearance permits that are created for the inspection order are not yet returned.

Allow closing of calibration order without returning permit

When this option is set, calibration orders can be closed even if clearance permits that are created for the calibration order are not yet returned.

Allow closing of permits even if the tags that are issued for a lockout or tagout procedure do not match the number of tags that are returned on completion of the maintenance activity.

When this option is set, the system allows the closure of permits even if the tags that are issued for a lockout or tagout procedure do not match the number of tags that are returned on completion of the maintenance activity.

Allow extension of clearance permit even if the extension is not requested for.

When this option is set, the system allows the extension of a clearance permit even when extension is not requested for. This implies that clearance permits that are in the “Approved” status can also be extended.

Limit on the number of extensions allowed on the clearance permit

You can specify the maximum number of times a clearance permit can be extended. Once this is specified, the system does not allow more number of extensions than the specified number during extension of the clearance permit.
