Using Online Help

This page allows you to define the calibration details of equipment. Tell me more.

The “Calibration Details” page appears.

Eqp.

The equipment for which you wish to define calibration details (Alphanumeric, 30).

Press <Enter>. The system retrieves the calibration details of the equipment. The description of the equipment is displayed alongside.

Zoom facility available.

The system displays the following fields:

Type

The type of the equipment, which can be “Normal”, “Rotable” or “Tool”.

Calib. Valid Till

The date till which the calibration is valid. The system displays this field only if a calibration created for the equipment in the “Create Calibration Order” business component, is in a “Closed” status.

Task/Proc.

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to perform a task or a procedure. The system fills in this field with the following options:

  • Task - Select this option, if you wish to perform a task.

  • SP - Select this option, if you wish to perform a procedure.

The system displays “SP”, by default.

Code

The identifier of the task or the standard procedure that you wish to perform as a part of the calibration order (Alphanumeric, 30). If you are specifying a task, ensure that the task is already defined in the “Create Task” activity and is in the “Active” status. If you are specifying a standard procedure, ensure that the procedure is already defined in the “Create Procedure” activity and is in the “Active” status.

Help facility available.

Parameter

The parameter for which the equipment must be checked for calibration (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the parameter is already defined in the “Create Parameter” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in the “Active” status. Also ensure that the parameter has already been attached to the equipment in the “Equipment Parameter ” page of the “Create Equipment” activity.

Help facility available

Press <Enter>. The system retrieves the “Type” and “UOM” fields in the multiline.

The system displays the following fields in the multiline:

Type

The type of the parameter, which can be “Attribute”, “Consumption” or “Range”.

UOM

The unit of measurement of consumption or range parameter.

Set Point

The value of the parameter at which the calibration must be done on the equipment (Alphanumeric, 30). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if you have specified a parameter in the “Parameter” field. Ensure that you enter a numeric value if you have specified a consumption or a range parameter. If you are specifying an attribute parameter, ensure that the value already exists in the list of attribute parameter values that are already defined in the “Attribute Parameter Values” page.

UL Of Tolerance

The upper limit value of tolerance that can be allowed for the equipment for which calibration is done (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure the following:

  • You must enter a numeric value if you have specified a consumption or a range parameter.

  • The value entered is equal to, or lesser than the value entered in the “Set Point” field.

  • If you are specifying an attribute parameter, ensure that the value already exists in the list of attribute parameter values that are already defined in the “Attribute Parameter Values” page.

LL Of Tolerance

The lower limit of tolerance that can be allowed for the equipment for which calibration is done (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure the following:

  • You must enter a numeric value it you have specified a consumption or a range parameter.

  • The value entered is equal to or lesser than the value entered in the “Set Point” field.

  • If you are specifying an attribute parameter, ensure that the value already exists in the list of attribute parameter values that are already defined in the “Attribute Parameter Values” page.

Master Instrument Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the master equipment that is used for calibration. The system provides the following options:

  • Internal - Select this option, if you wish to utilize equipment in the plant as master equipment for calibration.

  • External - Select this option, if you wish to utilize equipment not belonging to the plant as master equipment for calibration.

The system displays “External”, by default.

Master Instrument

The equipment to be used as the master equipment for calibration (Alphanumeric, 30). If you have specified “Internal” in the “Master Instrument Type” field, ensure that the equipment entered in this field has already been created in the “Create Equipment” activity and is in the “Active” status.

Help facility available.

Remarks

Any additional information regarding the calibration of the equipment (Alphanumeric, 255).

The system displays the following fields in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Created By

The login ID of the user who created the equipment.

Created Date

The date and time on which the equipment was created.

Last Modified By

The login ID of the user who last modified the equipment.

Defining calibration details for the equipment – An overview

Edit Equipment - A summary of the activity

Calibration can be defined as the act of maintaining a piece of measuring equipment in satisfactory working order. The systematic deviation in measurements is determined by comparing the equipment to the measurements of equipment that is in a satisfactory working condition. Minor adjustments are made to the equipment to rectify the deviations, keeping in mind the conditions under which the equipment was put to use. For example, thermometers can be calibrated by comparing their readings to a thermometer that is in a good working condition. The thermometer that is used for caparison is referred to as the “Master” equipment. The environment in which the thermometer is put to use is also considered before doing the calibration. If any discrepancy is noted in the readings of the thermometers as compared to the “Master” thermometer, minor adjustments are performed on the thermometer.

You can define calibration details for the equipment that is selected in the previous page. You can also enter an equipment code in this page, and enter its calibration details. The calibration details that are defined are automatically defaulted to the equipment while a calibration order is created for it.

You can specify the calibration details of the equipment by providing the following details:
