Set Option  – A summary of the activity

This activity allows you to define the default settings for the various fields in the activities belonging to the “Preventive Maintenance” business component. These settings define the behavior of the fields in the “Generate PM Work Orders” and “Create PM Schedule” activities. The following settings can be defined in this activity:

• You can select the option that requires the system to combine all similar tasks and to create one work order for the same. Separate work orders are created for each procedure that belongs to the preventive maintenance.

• You can select the option that requires the system to combine all the tasks in all the preventive maintenance schedules and to create one work order for the same.

• You can select the option that requires the system to create work orders for every task and for every procedure for all the preventive maintenance schedules.

You can specify the warehouse of the spare parts, that must be defaulted for the preventive maintenance schedules that are created and the status of the item that is required from the warehouse.

You can also specify the maximum number of days for which work order must be generated. The system generates work orders only for a specified number of days starting from current system date. Suppose you have specified the number of days for work order generation as 20 days. If the current system date is 04/01/2002 and you have specified the date till the work order must be generated as 04/30/2002, the system throws up an error, since the difference between 04/01/2002 and 04/30/2002 is more than 20 days.
