Preventive Maintenance – An overview

Introduction

Preventive Maintenance can be defined as the act of keeping an equipment or facility in satisfactory condition by providing for systematic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects. This can be achieved by having plans/schedules for such equipment or facility to carry out standard maintenance activities such as lubrication job, replacement of parts, checking oil levels etc. The schedules for a Preventive Maintenance job can be based on both date as well as usage of the equipment or facility.
