Using Online Help

This page allows you to configure the real time integration system. Tell me more.

The “Configure RTI Updates” page appears.

Update On

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to configure the real time integration for equipment or a location. The system provides the options: “Equipment” and “Location”. The system displays “Equipment” by default.

Status

Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the maintainable object. The system provides the options: “Active” and “Inactive”. Leave the field blank to retrieve the real time integration configuration of all equipment or location, irrespective of the status. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Classification

The classification to which the equipment or location belongs (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the classification in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves the real time integration configuration of all equipment or locations which belong to similar classifications.

Code

The identifier of the equipment or location for which you wish to configure the real time integration (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves the real time integration of all equipment or locations with codes similar to the code specified here.

Description

The description of the equipment or location entered in the “Code” field (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves the real time integration of all equipment or locations with descriptions similar to the description entered here.

Location

The location of the equipment (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the location in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves the real time integration of all equipment that are associated with a location similar to the location entered here.

Parameter

The parameter of the equipment or location for which you wish to specify the real time configuration (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the parameter in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves the real time integration configuration of all equipment or locations whose parameters are similar to the parameter entered here.

Inspection Point

The inspection point of the equipment or location (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the inspection point in full or specify it partially. The system retrieves the real time integration configuration of all equipment or locations, to which inspection points similar to the inspection point entered here, are attached.

The system retrieves the following details in the “Search Results” multiline:

Code

The equipment or location retrieved by the system.

Desc.

The description of the equipment or location.

Inspection Point

The inspection point attached to the equipment or location.

Parameter

The parameter for which the source of updation is defined as “RTI”.

Parameter Type

The type of the parameter, which can be “Attribute”, “Consumption” or “Range”.

UOM

The unit of measurement of the parameter.

RTITag (Pseudonym)

The tag of the RTI where the parameter value is captured (Alphanumeric, 25) Mandatory. Ensure that you enter a tag ID whose measurement is “Digital” if the parameter is of the type “Attribute”. The tag ID measurement should be “Analogue” if the parameter is of the type “Range” or “Consumption”.

Help facility available

The system displays the following fields:

Measurement

The type of measurement, which can be “Digital” or “Analog”.

Tag UOM

The unit of measurement in which the tag value is updated.

Delta / New

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the value updated to the parameter is a new value or an incrementing value. The system provides the following options:

  • Delta – Select this option if the value updated is an increment over the previous value.

  • New – Select this option if the previous value is replaced by the new value.

This field should not be left blank, if the parameter is of the type “Consumption”.

Sampling Interval

Use the drop-down list box to select the time intervals between which parameter values are required from the RTI. The system fills in this field with all the time intervals that are pre-set. The system leaves the field blank, by default.

Update When?

Use the drop-down list box to specify the circumstance at which the parameter value must be updated. The system provides the following options:

  • Value Change – Select this option if the parameter should be updated only when the value that is previously updated, changes.

  • Always – Select this option if the parameter should be updated irrespective of whether there is any change in its value or not.

Parameter Value – Event Low

If the “Parameter Type” is “Attribute”, enter the value to be updated to the parameter for the digital output “0” (Alphanumeric, 30). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the parameter is of the type “Attribute”. Ensure that the value entered for the attribute parameter is already defined in the “Create Parameter” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in the “Active” status.

If the parameter type is “Range” or “Consumption”, enter the minimum value crossing which, the parameter value must be updated from the RTI.

Help facility available.

Parameter Value – Event High

If the “Parameter Type” is “Attribute”, enter the value to be updated to the parameter for the digital output “1” (Alphanumeric, 30). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the parameter is of the type “Attribute”. Ensure that the value entered for the attribute parameter is already defined in the “Create Parameter” activity of the “Equipment Induction” business component and is in the “Active” status.

If the parameter type is “Range” or “Consumption”, enter the maximum value at which parameter value must be updated from the RTI. Ensure that the value entered is greater than the value entered in the “Parameter Value – Event Low” field.

Ensure that the value entered in this field is not the same as the value entered in the “Parameter Value – Event Low” field.

Help facility available.

Off Line?

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether you wish to update the parameter value from the RTI or not. The system provides options: “Yes” and “No”.

Remarks

Any additional information about the parameter update from the RTI (Alphanumeric, 255).

Configuring real time integration for updating parameter values – An overview

Configure RTI Updates - A summary of the activity

This page allows you to configure the real time integration system for the updation of parameter values from the DCS of the plant. You can retrieve the existing configuration by carrying out a search based on the following details:

The system retrieves the parameter along with the equipment and the inspection point to which the parameter belongs. You can enter the following details and configure the parameter to receive inputs from the RTI.

Note: Only those parameters, whose source of updation has been set as “RTI” in the “Change Parameter Source” page of the “Create/Edit Equipment” activities of the “Equipment Induction” business component, can be configured for updation from the RTI.

Note: Delta: The actual increase in the parameter value over and above the previous recorded value alone needs to be specified. The system will automatically compute the total parameter value by adding this value to the existing parameter value.

New: The total value of the parameter as of date, after having added on the latest value to the previous parameter value. This option can be used when the metered value (Cumulative) of a consumption parameter is directly entered whenever updates are made.
