Running material planning (MP) – An overview
This page allows you to run the material planning.
You can run the MP for a set of work orders at the same time. You can select the work orders for which MP must be run by specifying the work order numbers or by specifying the dates within which the work orders are scheduled.
You can also specify the individual work orders for which the MP must be run in the multiline. The following details can be specified for running the MP:
The work order
The item and variant of the work order
The warehouse from which the spare parts required for the work order is procured
If only a work order is specified, the system runs the MP for all the items that are required for the work order.
You can also specify a planning group and run the MP for all the work orders for which the planning group is responsible.
You can select the running option for the MP. The following are the two options:
Regenerative – When this option is selected, the system runs the MP taking into consideration all the problem demands, including those demands for which purchase requests have been raised. For the purchase requests that are in the “Planned” status, the system creates a consolidated purchase request.
Net Change – When this option is selected the system runs the MP only for problem demands for which purchase requests have not been raised yet.
You can set the option for the system to generate action messages and for allowing for re-pegging of work orders.
The system also allows you to abort or cancel a running MP. You can rerun the aborted MP in the ”RePlan Materials” activity.
