Mapping business unit to an organization unit
This page allows you to map an organization unit to a business unit. Tell me more.
Select the “Map Business Unit – Organization Unit” link under the “Organization Setup” business component.
The “Map Organization Unit” page appears.
Enter the following fields:
Business Unit |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the business unit to which you want to map an organization unit. All the business units that have been defined and that are in the “Active” status will be available for selection in the ascending order. |
The system displays the following:
Business Unit Name |
The name identifying the business unit. |
Enter the following fields:
Effective Date |
The date from which the mapping of the business unit and the organization unit will be effective (Date Format). The system date is displayed by default at the launch of the page. The date entered in this field must be after the date from which the business unit is effective. |
Company Code |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the company. All the companies associated to the business unit will be available for selection in ascending order. |
The system displays the following:
Company Name |
The name identifying the company. |
Enter the following field:
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to set whether you want to map or unmap the business unit from an organization unit. You can select from “Map” or “Unmap”. |

Note: If the Organization Setup has not been completed the system will also retrieve all the organization units that have been unmapped earlier from a business unit.
The system displays “Unmap” by default at the launch of the page.
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the organization unit details.
The system retrieves the details of all the organization units that have been mapped to the selected business unit if “Map” has been selected in the “Status” field.
The system retrieves the details of all the organization units that have not been mapped to the selected business unit if "Unmap” has been selected in the “Status” field. The system also retrieves all the organization units that are in the “Unmapped” status.
Enter the following field in the “Org. Units” multiline:
Org. Unit |
The code identifying the organization unit (Alphanumeric, 256). |
The system displays the following in the “Org. Units” multiline:
Org. Unit Desc. |
The textual description of the organization unit. |
Start Date |
The date from which the mapping of the organization unit is effective use. |
End Date |
The date till which the mapping of the organization unit is effective use. |
Status |
The status of the organization unit. It could be “Mapped” or “Unmapped”. |

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the organization unit that you want to map to the selected business unit or unmap the organization unit from the selected business unit.
Note: If the selected organization unit has earlier been mapped to a business unit and subsequently unmapped, you cannot map it to the selected business unit.
Click the “Assign OU” pushbutton to map the organization unit to the selected business unit.
The system maps the business unit to the organization unit. The system also updates the login ID of the user and the system date in the “Created By” and the “Created Date” fields.
The system displays the following:
Created By |
The login ID of the user who has mapped the business unit to the organization unit. |
Created Date |
The date on which the business unit was mapped to the organization unit. |
