The “Edit Component Revision” page appears.

The system displays the following:

ECR No.

The number identifying the engineering change request.

ECR Desc.

The description of the engineering change request.

Zoom facility available.

ECR Status

The status of the engineering change request. It can be "Active", "Inactive",  "Authorized", "Resolved" or "Implemented".

EC Need Date

The date on which the engineering change is required.

ECR Type

The type of the engineering change request. It can be "Engineering", "Production", "Subcontracting" or "All".

Item Revision No.

The revision number identifying the item variant.

Item Code

The code identifying the item.

Variant Code

The code or number identifying the variant of the item.

Current Short Desc.

The current short description of the item variant specified.

Zoom facility available.

Item Code

The code identifying the component item. Mandatory. The system ensures that the item is in “Active” status and is valid between the effective from and to date .

Variant Code

The code or number identifying the variant of the component item.

The system displays the following in the “Component Details” multiline:

Item Rev. No.

The revision number of the component item specified.

Current Short Desc.

The current short description of the item variant specified.

Action

Use the drop-down list box to select action types based on which the components are updated in product structure. You can select from "Add", "Delete", "Replace" or "blank". The system displays “Blank” by default on launch of the page. The options available are:

  • Add – indicates that the selected component item is to be added in the product structure.

  • Delete – indicates that the selected component item is to be deleted from the product structure.

  • Replace – indicates that the selected component item is to replace another component item in the product structure.

Replacing Item Code

The code identifying the replacing component item. If the action value is set to "Replace", then the replacing item should exist. If it exists, then it should not be same as the original item. The system checks whether the original item and replacing item are in “Active” status and available for effective date.

Replacing Variant Code

The code or number identifying the replacing variant of the component item.

The system displays the following in the “Component Details” multiline:

Replacing Item Desc.

The description of the replacing component item.

Effective  From

The date from which the component item is valid. Mandatory.

Effective  To

The date to which the component item is valid. The system checks whether the effective to is greater than effective from date.

Use-up WIP / Inventory

Use the drop-down list box to select the usage options based on which the usage date is specified. You can select from “Yes”, “No” or “Blank”. The system displays “Blank” by default on launch of the page.

Use-up Date To

The date till which the existing component item is valid. For each component item, if use-up WIP/Inventory is set to “Yes”, then this field cannot be left blank.

PS Seq.

The number identifying the position sequence of the component item in the product structure.

Qty. Setup

The quantity of the component item during setup sub-activity.

Qty. Batch

The quantity of the component item during batch sub-activity.

Run Qty.

The quantity of the component item during run sub-activity. If the action value is set to “Add” or “Replace” then the run quantity cannot be left blank.

The system displays the following in the “Component Details” multiline::

UOM

The production unit of measure of the component item.

Plant

The plant where the component item is identified.

Warehouse Code

The code or number identifying the warehouse where the component item is identified. If the action value is set to "Add" or "Replace" then this field cannot be left blank and the warehouse must be active in the plant.

Comp Yield%

The percentage yield of the component item.

The system cannot delete the engineering change request if the ECR status is in "Authorized" or  "Implemented” status and also deletes the selected component details in the multiline.

The system retrieves all the single level output items for all the component items based on the EC type and saves the output item of the component item, plant, warehouse, short description, item description, current revision into item revision details.

The system ensures that at least one row must be entered in the multiline. The system checks whether the login user has “EC Permissions” to the “Maintained By” control unit. If the ECR status is set to “Active”, then the system saves the updations. To effect the changes made to component revision, the output items are checked in item revision for the specified ECR No, if the output items does not exist, then where used functionality is initiated before any updation. Finally, the system saves the component details.

To proceed, carry out the following

The system displays the following:

Created By

The login ID of the user who created the component revision.

Created Date

The date on which the component revision was created.

Edited By

The login ID of the user who has modified the component revision.

Edit Component Revision - An overview

Activity overview

If a component change is required, then the person who is authorized alone can access this page. The system populates the engineering change details from the main page. You can carry out the action of adding a component item, deleting a component item or replacing one component item with another component item in a product structure.

The component item change can be implemented based on the effective dates or the useup date. For example, If the “Action” is set to “Replace” and an item A is to be replaced with item B, then the effective from date of item B should fall between the effective dates of item A. The effective to date of item B can exceed the effective to date of item A. Let us consider the effective dates defined for item A in the product structure are “01/01/03” to “30/04/03”. If the item B is requested for change effective from “03/03/03“, then the effective dates of item A will be specified as “01/01/03 to “02/03/03” and the effective from date of item B will be specified as “03/03/03”. The alternate method of effecting component change is when the useup option is selected. For the above example, if the useup date to is specified as “10/04/03” then item A can be restricted for use until “10/04/03” and item B is considered from “10/04/03” onwards.

You can also delete the component details by selecting the records in the multiline and initiate the delete operation. In order to find all the output items for each of the input item selected in the multiline, you can make use of  “Where Used Items” operation for the engineering change request displayed in the page. On performing the above operation, the output item is identified and saved in the “Edit Item Revision” page. In order to confirm this updation, you can view the output item by checking it against the same engineering change request when the “Edit Item Revision” page is revisited.
