Planning Run – A summary of the activity

The planning run is the core engine of the planning process. The planning can be done for all the items at MPS, MRP or DRP level. You can specify the plan options based on which the items/planning groups are planned. Further you can select the planning methods to plan at the business unit or organization unit level. The items/planning group for which the planning is done can be specified in the multiline.

You can select the MPS or MRP to plan for the MPS or MRP items and can select DRP to plan for all items with item source as stock transferred. You have been provided with various methods of planning based on which the items are planned. It can be “Net Change”, “Regenerative”, “ Process Batch Trans” or “Generate Action Message”.

4 Regenerative – MRP replans for all the items i.e. it deletes all the demands which are in requested staus and takes into account the fresh customer demand and creates fresh supllies for those demands.

4 Netchange – MRP replans for all the items but does not delete the demands. The processing is carried out for demands that undergoes frequent changes and the existing demands and supplies are adjusted accordingly.

4 Generate Action Message – The items are not planned instead the system action messages for the items are generated.

4 Process Batch Trans – The processing takes place for those items identified as pending batch trnsactions i.e. trnsactions in “Q” status.

You can select the required plan options provided. All the items are identified with a LLC (Low Level Code). When there is a change in the item, in order maintain consistency during planning you can select the recalculate LLC to recalculate and assign the low-level code to the item. The Re-pegging option can be selected to remove the previously established link between the demands and supply and create a new link for the demands satisfied prior to the planning date. You can choose the time fence option to indicate whether the time fence rules defined for the plan can be used. To generate the action messages for the items, you can select generate action message option.

Further you can plan for the items at business unit or organization unit (plant) level and specify the planning horizon period. In the multiline, you can specify the planning group/item at the plant or the warehouse level for which the planning has to be done. On furnishing the necessary details to plan, you can specify the run name to the selected items in the multiline. You can select either one item or more than one item and run the plan accordingly. The planning run is then scheduled as batch process on selective periods and is set with “Pending” status. The status and the date are updated and displayed for the planning run. You also have the option of canceling the process of planning run by initiating the cancel planning run operation.
