Message Mapping
This page allows you to map the messages to the corresponding methods. You can also map the message place holder holds the application data to the segment dataitem.
Select the “Message Mapping” hyperlink at the bottom of the “Service-X Designer” page.
The “Message Mapping” page appears.
The system displays the following in the header.
Component Description |
The name of the component. |

The name of the service. |

The Message Mapping page has 2 tabs.
To proceed, carry out the following
Click the “Message Definition” link to define the error messages for the service.
Enter the following detail in the header:
Method Name |
Use the drop-down list box to select the method name to which the message has to be mapped. The combo is loaded with all method names defined for the service. |
The system displays the following in the header.
Method Description |
The description of the method name. |
The system displays the following in the multiline.
Message ID |
A unique identification number of the service message. |
Enter the following details in the multiline:
Description |
Use the drop-down list box to select the message definition which is to be mapped with the method. The combo is loaded with the values as defined in the “Message Definition” activity. |
The system displays the following in the multiline.
Base Artifact |
Indicates whether the method is base method or not. |
Click the “Save” pushbutton to save the mapped message details.
Enter the following detail in the header:
Process Section Name |
Use the drop-down list box to select the process section name for mapping the message place holder to the segment dataitem. The combo is loaded with all process section names defined for the service. |
The system displays the following in the header.
Seq. No. |
The sequence number of the process section name. |
Execution Mode |
The execution mode of the method. |
Current Seq. No. |
The current sequence number of the method. |
Method Name |
The method name associated with the process section name. |
Method Description |
The description of the method name. |
Stored Proc. Name |
The stored procedure (SP) name for the method. |
Enter the following detail:
Message Description |
Use the drop-down list box to select the message description for mapping the place holder to the segment dataitem. The combo is loaded with the values as defined in the “Masters”. |
Note: Messages that contain place holder information only will be listed in the Message Description Combo.
The system displays the following detail.
Message ID |
A unique identification number of the message. |
The system displays the following details in the multiline.
Place Holder Name |
The name of the message place holder holds the application data has to be mapped to the segment dataitem. |
Segment Name |
The name of the segment to which the message place holder has to be mapped. |
Enter the following details in the multiline:
Dataitem Name |
Use the drop-down list box to select the dataitem name of the segment. The combo is loaded with all dataitem names defined for the service. |
The system displays the following details in the multiline.
Control Name |
The name of the control to which the segment dataitem is defined. |
View Name |
The view name of the control. |
Control Caption |
The caption name of the control. |
Base Artifact |
Indicates whether the segment is base segment or extension segment. |
Click the “Save” pushbutton to save the mapped message place holder details.
