Basics of using Ramco Enterprise series web page

Using online help

This activity allows you to modify the bill of resource details. The page provides the help facility to search the bill of resource and the item/planning group for which you can modify or delete the details. On entering the details in the help screen the system retrieves the corresponding results in the multiline. Once the details are fetched, you can modify the resource no and activity description together with the other fields in the multiline. You can define different resources and activities with the run time, run quantity and capacity details of the resource. Resource sequences are displayed in the multiline for the selected resources.

This screen also allows you to delete the resource no and the activity description created together with other details of the item or the planning group of the bill of resource. Any changes made to the activity description are not affected in the activity master. Once the details are fetched in the multiline, you can select the record containing the resource details and initiate the delete operation. Once the resources are deleted, you can update the changes made to the bill of resource. The status now changes to “Active”.

The “Edit Bill Of Resource” page appears.

The code identifying the planning group. Planning group is a code referring to an artificial set of items that have almost similar characteristics and planning parameters, used to facilitate master scheduling and material planning. If planning group is specified, then the item code should not be specified.

Press <Enter> key.

The planning group should be in “Active” status. For the specified planning group, the system retrieves the planning group description and plant.

Help facility available.

The system displays the following:

Desc.

The description of the planning group.

Zoom facility available.

Use Offset

Select the checkbox to indicate the use of offset during the rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP). By choosing offset you can indicate the time (in percentage of the manufacturing lead time of the item or planning group) when a specified resource would be needed. The system leaves the box “Unchecked” by default on launch of the page.

Item Code

The code identifying the item for which the Bill of resource is being prepared. If item code is specified, then the planning group should not be specified.

Press <Enter> key.

The item code should exist and should be in “Active” status. the item should have been defined in the warehouse Organization Unit to which Process Model Organization Unit is mapped. The system retrieves the item details for the specified item.

Help facility available.

The system displays the following:

Desc.

The description of the item.

Zoom facility available.

Plant

Use the drop-down list box to select the valid plants. The system retrieves all the warehouses Organization Unit to which Process Model Organization Unit is mapped. The system displays the “Warehouse OU” by default on launch of the page.

Bill Of Resource Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined types of the bill of resource. The system retrieves the types from the Create Types page of the “Organization Model” business component. The system displays “Blank” defined for the login user.

Std. Order Qty.

The standard quantity of the item or planning group for which requirements of the bill of resource have been defined. It is the quantity of a particular item that is ordered from the plant or a supplier or issued as a standard quantity to the production process.

Use Item Lead Time

Select the checkbox to indicate the use of the item lead-time during the rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP). The system leaves the box “Unchecked” by default on launch of the page.

The system displays the following detail in the “Resource Details” multiline:

Res Seq.

The sequence number identifying the position sequence of the resource attached to the bill of resource automatically generated by the system.

Resource No.

The number identifying the resource. Mandatory.

Press <Enter> key.

The resource should not be left blank and should exist in the resource master. The resource should be valid and should be in “Active” status. The system retrieves the resource details for the resource.

Help facility available.

Activity Desc.

The description of the activity. Mandatory.

Cap Units Reqd.

The capacity units required of the resource. Mandatory. The capacity units should not be left blank and should be greater than zero.

Capacity Basis

Use the drop down list box to select the capacity basis. The system displays "Fixed" by default on launch of the page. The options available are:

  • Fixed – indicates that the capacity of the resource required is fixed.

  • Variable – indicates that the capacity of the resource required is variable.

Run Time

The time required for actual processing of items or the time required for the run sub-activity of an activity selected. Mandatory. The rum time should not be blank and should be greater than zero.

Time UOM

Use the drop-down list box to select the time unit of measure of the run time field. You can select from “Hrs”, “Mins”, “Secs” or “Days” . The system displays “Hrs” by default on launch of the page.

Offset

The time (in percentage of the manufacturing lead time of the item/Planning group) when the Requirements on the specified Resource would arise.

PP Usage Qty.

The usage quantity is identified when more than one critical resource exists at different levels of the product structure and planning has to be done at higher level (RCCP). In such case, the resource requirements at the lower level need to be converted to the net resource requirements at the higher level. The PP usage quantity is the required quantity of the of the child item, corresponding to the parent, that is to be used in the calculation of capacity requirements of resources.

The system displays the following in the “Resource Details” multiline:

Total Time

The total time of the activity. The time is calculated depending upon the number of times the standard order qty or lot size is greater than or equal to the Run Qty. This number is multiplied with the Run Time field to arrive at the total time.

Source Item Code

The code identifying the source item. This field is identified when more than one critical resource exists at different levels of the product structure and planning has to be done at higher level (RCCP). In such case, the resource requirements at the lower levels need to be converted to the net resource requirements at the higher levels. The source item is that item at the lower level, which requires a critical resource.

Entry Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the entry types. You can select “Manual” and this value is set as the default value.

The system ensures that at least one row in the multiline should be present. This check has to be made even in the cases where rows are marked for deletion. After deletion, there should be at least one row. So the system checks for that existence before deletion. If there are rows marked for deletion, then for the marked rows and specified activity description the system retrieves the activity and checks if it is a part of the specified bill of resource. The system deletes the activity and resource details.

The system ensures that the login user has “Modify” or “All” permission to the “Maintained By " control unit of the bill of resource. The output planning group or item code of the bill of resource should not be modified.

The system checks the status. If the status has been changed from “Draft” to “Active”, then the system generates all the validations. If the status is changed from “Active” to “Inactive”, then the system updates the PP status as “Inactive”. If the status is changed from “Draft” to “Inactive” then the system performs no action. If the status is changed from “Inactive” to “Active”, then the system generates all the validations and updates the PP status as “Active”. The system ensures that at least one row in the multiline should be present. The system saves the bill of resource details.

The login user ID and the system date are updated in the “Created By”, “Created Date”, “Edited By” and “Edited Date” fields.

The system displays the following:
