Resource Loading – A summary of the activity

Component overview

Pages inside the activity

The system presents search filter where you can enter the resource, the start and end date between which the resource details are to be displayed, the period based on which the display is restricted, the sort options to view the details based on the sort criteria. You can also specify the percentage under or over loaded on a resource to retrieve the associated capacity load details. On furnishing the necessary details in the header, you can save the header details that can be revisited when required.

The system retrieves the corresponding capacity details for the resource information specified in the search criteria onto the multiline. For each period selected in the header, the system computes the capacity along with the load factor and retrieves it to the multiline. For example, if the period selected is “Daily”, the from date and to date is “11/12/02” and “12/12/02” on resources R1, R2 & R3, the multiline is depicted as follows:

Resource No

Maximum Capacity

Available Capacity

Required Capacity

Capacity Difference

Load Factor

R1

24*1 = 24

8* 1 = 8

8* 1 = 8

8-8 = 0

8*100/8 = 100

R2

24*1 = 24

8* 1 = 8

4*1 = 4

8-4 = 4

4*100/8 = 50

R3

24*1 = 24

6*1 = 6

8*1 = 8

6-8 = -2

8*100/6 = 133

For the resource R1, the system displays the capacity details by multiplying 1 (period) to each of the capacity. The available and required capacity is the same and this information is further used to calculate the load percentage on the resource, which implies that the resource is 100% loaded. For the resource R2, there is a positive difference between the available and required capacity and hence the resource is under loaded that is, 50% loaded. For the resource R3, there is a higher variation between the available and required capacity and hence the resource is over loaded that is, 133%. If the period were selected as “Weekly” or “Monthly”, the number of records displayed would be (difference between start and due date)/7 or (difference between start and due date)/30/31rounded off to the higher integer value. Likewise, the capacity details are calculated for each of the selected resource.
