Select the “Build Hierarchy” link at the bottom of the main page.
The “Build Hierarchy” page appears.
The system displays the following fields:
|

Use the drop-down list box to select the location for which child locations must be defined. The system displays the apex location in this field, when the page is launched for the first time. Subsequently, when the hierarchy is defined, the system lists all the locations attached to the hierarchy at the level displayed in the “Current level” field. The locations are listed in the alphabetical order and the first location is displayed by default. You can select a location and define child locations for it. |
Note: The system retrieves the child locations that are already defined for the default parent location, in the multiline.
The system displays the following field:
|
Current level |
The level number assigned to the location that is displayed in the “Parent Location” field. |
The system retrieves all the child locations that have already been defined for the selected parent location, in the multiline.
Enter the following field in the multiline, if you wish to attach new locations to the selected parent location:

Note: This location should not have been attached to the system at any other level in the hierarchy.
The system displays the following field in the multiline:
|
Desc. |
The description of the location. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to select those locations that you wish to remove from the hierarchy.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the selected location from the hierarchy.
Note: The system also disassociates all the child locations belonging to the location from the hierarchy.
Click the “Update Hierarchy” pushbutton, to attach the child locations to the parent location.
Note: The system attaches the locations in the hierarchy, at a level next to the level displayed in the “Current level” field, and clears the multiline.
Click the “Next” pushbutton, if you wish to traverse to the next level in the hierarchy.
The system fills the “Parent Location” drop-down list box with all the locations defined at the next level in the hierarchy. In the example shown in Figure, suppose the “Parent Location” drop-down list box contains “Apex location”, the system displays “Location 1” and “Location 2” as child locations in multiline. When you click the “Next” pushbutton, the “Parent Location” drop-down list box is filled with values “Location1”, and “Location2” in that order. The child locations belonging to Location 1, i.e. Location 3 and Location 4 are retrieved in the multiline and the “Current level” field is refreshed as “2”.
Click the “Previous” pushbutton, if you wish to traverse to the previous level in the hierarchy.
The system fills the “Parent Location” drop-down list box with all the locations defined at the previous level in the hierarchy. In the example shown in Figure, suppose the “Parent Location” drop-down list box contains the values “Location 3“ and “Location 4”, “Location5”, and “Location6”, the “Parent location” drop-down list box will be filled with “Location1” and “Location2” when "Next" pushbutton is clicked., “Location1” is displayed by default in the “Parent Location” drop-down list box and its child locations “Location3”, and “Location4” are retrieved in the multiline.

Building hierarchy of locations – An overview
In this page, you can attach locations at various levels to the system selected in the “Define Other Systems” page. A newly created system consists only of the apex location, attached at the first level in the hierarchy. You can make use of the help facility and attach child locations to the system at various levels, thereby creating a hierarchy of locations. A location cannot be attached to a system at more than one level in the hierarchy.
You can also delete a location from the system. When a location attached to any level in the hierarchy is deleted from the hierarchy, its child locations are also disassociated from the hierarchy.
