Select the “Create Work Group” link under the “Work Group” business component.
The “Create Work Group” page appears.
Enter the following fields:

Work Group |
A unique identifier for the work group (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. This field can be a combination of characters and numbers and should not be left blank. |

Enter the textual description of the work group in the edit box alongside (Alphanumeric, 150). Zoom facility available. |

Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the work group. Mandatory. The system provides the options “Active” and “Inactive”. Set the status to “Inactive”, to disable the work group from being accessed in other activities. The system sets this field to “Active” by default. |

Planning Group |
The planning group to which the work group must be associated (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. Ensure that the planning group has already been defined in the “Create Planning Group“ activity of the “Maintenance Organization” business component. |

Press <Enter>. The system displays the description of the planning group alongside. |

Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work group. The system lists all the types that are defined for work group in the “Define Common Type” activity of the “Maintenance Organization” business component. Leave the field blank, if you do not wish to assign any type to the work group. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Click the “Create Work Group” pushbutton, to create the work group.
The system creates the work group and displays the following details in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Created By |
The login ID of the user currently logged in. |

Created Date |
The current system date and time. |
|
Last Modified By |
In this activity, the system displays the log in ID of the user who has created the work group. |

Modified Date |
In this activity, the system displays the date and time at which the work group was created. |
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Associate Employees” link from the bottom of the page to associate employees to the work group.
Select the “Associate Tools” link from the bottom of the page to associate tools to the work group.
Select the “Associate Other Resources” link from the bottom of the page to associate other resources to the work group.
Select the “Set Default Work Group” link from the bottom of the page to change the default work group for the planning group.

Create Work Group – An overview
You can enter a unique code for the work group and provide a description and status. You can select the type to which the work group belongs. You can also attach the work group to a planning group, either by directly entering the planning group or using the help facility provided. The system sets the work group creation date and time to the current system date and time and stores the login ID of the currently logged-in user.

The work group can be attached to a planning group, which will be responsible for planning the activities of the work group.
Enter the planning group in the “Planning Group” field.
Click the “Create Work Group” pushbutton.
