This activity allows you to create a request for inspecting the quality of an item. The requests can be triggered by various applications such as production, inventory, materials management, purchase and sales, and sent to the Quality department. As of now, inspection requests from the origins “All” and “Quality Management” alone are accepted for quality inspection. The inspection request can be raised once the inspection plan is created for the item.

There are two types of inspection requests namely, “Quality Clearance” and “In-Process”. Quality clearance indicates that the item could be sent from the origin, such as purchase, production, material management application for quality inspection. It is “In-Process” when the inspection request is raised during production and the feedback of quality inspection is sent to the previous stage of production.

Quality inspection can be done with reference to the lot number, sub-lot number or the production order of the item. The size of the sample to be tested can be determined. Depending on the sample size specified, the samples are created with sample numbers starting from 1. You are allowed to specify the reason for each request raised. The reason codes are retrieved from the “Maintain Reason Code” activity of the “Common Masters” business component.
