Help facility available.

Capacity Check At

Use the drop-down list box to select the status at which the capacity is checked and scheduling of the resource is done. Mandatory. You can select from “Order Under Request”, “Order Accepted”, “Order Firmed Up” or “No Capacity Booking”. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “Fixed” by default on launch of the page.

No. Of Activity Cards

The number of job tickets to be printed. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “0” by default on launch of the page. The number of activity cards should be greater than or equal to zero.

Prodn. Reporting Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the production reporting types of the activities using the resource. Mandatory. You can select from “Start/Break/End”, “Start/End”, “Start of Activity”, “End of Activity” or “Backflush”.  The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “Start/Break/End” by default on launch of the page.

Capacity Plg. Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the planning type of the resource. Mandatory. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “Aggregate” by default on launch of the page. The options available are

  • Discrete – indicates the capacity planning of discrete resources, which are group of similar resources where each resource can handle only one job at a time.

  • Aggregate – indicates the capacity planning of aggregate resources, resources that can handle more than one job at any given time.

Queue Time

The time buffer that is to be given at the beginning of an activity, which uses this resource. This is useful when the actual start time of an activity differs from the planned time. If the actual start time is within the buffer time, no rescheduling is done. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “0.00000” by default on launch of the page. Queue Time should be greater than or equal to zero.

Wait Time

The time buffer that is to be given at the end of an activity, which uses the resource being defined. This is useful when the actual end time of an activity is different from the planned time. If the actual end time is within the buffer time, no rescheduling is done. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “0.00000” by default on launch of the page. Wait Time should be greater than or equal to zero.

Transport Time

The time required for the job on this resource to move to the next resource. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “0.00000” by default on launch of the page. Transport Time should be greater than or equal to zero.

Costing Required

Select the check box to specify whether costing is required for the resource. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then the system leaves the box “Checked” by default on launch of the page.

Cost Center

The code identifying the cost center under the specified Management Accounting (MAC) location to which the resource is to be attached. If the costing required field is “Checked”, then the cost center cannot be left blank. The cost center should be valid for the Business Unit to which the “Maintained By” control unit is mapped.

Help facility available.

Costing Basis

Use the drop-down list box to select the costs based on the requirements. You can select from “Standard”, “Actual Time”. The system displays the default value based on the save template field defined for the login user. However, if the default does not exist for the login user then displays “Standard” by default on launch of the page.

Save Template

Select the check box to save all the fields as default fields except Resource No and Description that can be viewed when the user revisits the screen. The system leaves the box “Unchecked” by default on launch of the page. If this field is checked, then the system retrieves the default values saved earlier for the login user.

The resource should not be an already existing resource. The system checks the status of the resource. If the status is set to “Draft”, then the system saves the resource details without generating the validations. The resource cannot be created in “Inactive” status. The system ensures that the login user should have “All” access permission to the “Maintained By” control unit to create the resource.

The login user ID and the system date are updated in the “Created By” and “Created Date” fields.

To proceed, carry out the following

The system displays the following:

Created By

The login user ID of the person who has created the resource.

Created Date

The date on which the resource was created.

Create Resource – An overview

Activity overview

You can specify the type of the resource with its classification and can also assign the control unit permissions along with the department using this screen. A resource calendar can be attached to identify the working and non-working times of the resource. You can categorize a resource as “Discrete” or “Aggregate”. A discrete resource is a group of similar resources where each resource can handle only one job at a time. An aggregate resource is one that can handle more than one job at any given time.

The capacity of the resource must be specified along with its unit of measure and is classified as fixed or variable depending upon the capacity requirements. The reporting information during production is used to report the status of the activities and the same can be used for costing purposes. You can specify the type of capacity planning on the resource and the status of an order based on which the capacity of the resource is planned.

Time details are attached to the resource to identify the queue, wait and transport time of the activity. These details are used to compare the actual and planned start and end times of the activity on the resource to necessitate rescheduling of the activities. You can also determine the cost by selecting the appropriate cost center along with other cost details. A feature that saves the default fields defined for future reference can be captured using this screen. Help screens are available to retrieve the details of the resources, resource calendars, capacity units and cost centers.
