Capability To Promise – A summary of the activity

You can find on executing the CTP if any material or capacity problem is encountered, the system displays the corresponding item and resource details in the respective multiline. You can also view the associated CTP results in the header.

This activity allows you to ascertain whether the selected item can be produced for the quantity and within the date requested by the customer. You can specify the item details by entering the item code if it is known or by making use of the help facility. The system displays the relevant item details and you can mention the quantity, warehouse of the item and the requested date in the header. By providing the necessary details, you can initiate the “Run CTP” operation. The system checks whether the requested product can be fulfilled for the specified quantity and date. If there are any material/capacity problems, those details are displayed in the “Material Problem” or “Capacity Problem” multiline along with the appropriate problem flag in the header.

The work order can be directly created for the quantity and date specified from this screen. You can also create/edit the work order and create a sale order for the selected item through the link. You can also view the warehouse-stock information and resource details through the links provided in this screen. The screen has links through which you can browse, create and modify the details of the item. The “Create Work Order” link can be used to create work order using the details provided. The “Edit Work Order” link can be used to modify the   work order details. The “Create Sale Order” link can be used to create a sale order for the copied item details. The “Inquire Company Stock” link can be used to view the free stock information of the item. The “Resource Loading” link can be used to view the resource details.
