Create Work Order - An overview
These work orders are the rush orders that have a higher priority over the normal orders. They could even be the orders, which have specific requirements and are not usually encountered. So, you as the user can create these orders and plan for their requirements immediately. The planning for the input items to these orders is taken up during the next MRP run. However, the capacity planning and thus, scheduling is done online. You can specify the start or the due date of the order and planning of input items and scheduling of the capacity is done based on these dates. The actual management of this work order is like any normal work order as explained in the work order management. These work orders are not amended during MRP run as they have been user generated.
You can raise a work order for an output item by entering the same or making use of the help facility. If the specified item has variants, then you need to specify the variant manually. You can specify the receipt warehouse for the selected item by making the appropriate selection and the corresponding plant gets displayed.
You can generate a work order number either manually or automatically by choosing the appropriate option. In case of “Manual” work order number generation, you can define the work order number, required quantity of the item, the validity dates of the work order, the priority in which the orders are scheduled. Otherwise, the system automatically generates a work order. This page displays the problems associated with the items and resources together with the expected scrap and order quantity calculated based on the receipt quantity in the multiline. You can select the status of the work order to determine whether the work order is requested or accepted or firmed or released. Once the necessary details are furnished, you can process the work order either in online or batch mode. If the online mode is selected, the work order is generated immediately. Otherwise, it is generated when MRP is run. On entering the details in the header and the multiline, you can initiate the “Create Work Order” operation to generate the work order.
