This page allows you to create a routine task with a unique code and provide a description for it. Tell me more.
Select the “Create Task” link under the “Task” business component.
The “Create New Task” page appears.
Enter the following fields:
Task |
A unique identifier for the task (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. This field can be a combination of numbers and alphabets and cannot be left blank. |
Enter the textual description of the task in the edit box alongside (Alphanumeric, 150). |

Enter the following fields in the “Copy” group box if you wish to create a new task by copying the details from an existing task:

The task number, the details of which are to be copied into the task that is currently being defined (Alphanumeric, 30). The system allows you to copy all the details of the task or to selectively copy the skill requirements, spares requirements, tool requirements and other resource requirements from the task entered in this field. |

Click one or more of the following boxes to specify the details of the task to be copied:

Check this box to copy all the details pertaining to the task. Details include activities, skill requirements, spares requirements, tools requirements and other resource requirements. |
Skill Reqt. |
Check this box to copy the skill requirement details. |
Spares Reqt. |
Check this box to copy the spare parts requirement details. |
Tools Reqt. |
Check this box to copy the tool requirement details. |
Other Res. Reqt. |
Check this box to copy the other resource requirement details. |
Note: If you have not checked any of the boxes listed above, the system copies all the details of the task, on clicking the “Copy” pushbutton.
Click the “Copy” pushbutton to copy the selected details of the task.
Enter the following fields:
Task Type |
Use the drop-down list box to identify the type of the task. The system lists all the types that are in “Active” status, as defined in the “Define Task Types” activity. |
Task Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the task. The system provides the options “Active” and “Inactive”. Set the status as “Inactive” if you wish to disable the task from any future reference in other activities. The system displays “Active” by default. |
Est. Duration (Hrs.) |
The estimated duration in hours within which the task must be completed (Decimal). Ensure that the duration is not negative. Also ensure that the duration that is specified for any particular resource is not greater than the duration entered in this field. If you leave the field blank, the system displays “0”. |
Task Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category to which the task belongs. The system lists all the categories in active status that have been defined in the “Define Task Categories” activity. Leave the field blank if you do not wish to identify the task category. |

Enter any other additional information about the task (Alphanumeric, 30). |
Enter the following fields if you wish to define the activities belonging to the task.

The textual description of the activity (Alphanumeric, 150). You cannot however modify an existing descriptionif it is copied from another task. |
Seq. No. |
The order in which the activities must be performed (Integer). Ensure that the sequence number is a positive integer and is unique in the multiline. |
If you have left the sequence number blank for all the multiline rows, the system automatically assigns a sequence number to each of them, in multiples of five, on clicking the “Create” pushbutton.
Note: If you have left the sequence number blank for some of the multiline rows, the system arranges those rows in the in the order in which they are entered in the multiline, and numbers these rows to be the last in the sequence. The system then rearranges the rows in the ascending order of the sequence number and renumbers the rows with multiples of five.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the activities for deletion from the task.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the mutliline, to delete the selected activities..
Click the “Create” pushbutton to create the task.
The system creates the task and displays the following fields in the “Record Statistics” group box:

The date on which the task was created. |
Last Modified By |
In this activity, this field contains the login ID of the user who created the task. |
Last Modified Date |
In this activity, this field contains the date on which the task was created. |
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Skill Requirement” link from the bottom of the page to specify the skills required for the task.
Select the “Tool Requirement” link from the bottom of the page to specify the tools required for the task.
Select the “Spare Part Requirement” link from the bottom of the page to specify the spare parts required for the task.
Select the “Other Resource Requirement” link from the bottom of the page to specify any other resource required for the task.
Select the “Attach Notes” link at the bottom of the page to specify notes details.
In this page, you can create a routine task with a unique code and provide a description for it.
You can identify the type of the task, set the status and enter the estimated duration for the completion of the task. You can copy the details of an existing task in to the new task being created. If you know the task to be copied, you can directly enter it. Otherwise, you can make use of the help facility to select the task.
The type of the task should be selected from the set of user–defined types that have been defined in the “Define Task Types” activity. You can also select the category to which the task belongs, from the set of user–defined categories that have been defined in the “Define Task Categories” activity. The activities of the task can be specified along with the sequence number, to indicate the order in which the activities must be performed.

You can create a task in this page.
Enter the identifier of the task in the “Task” field.
Specify the task type in the “Type” field.
Select the status of the task in the “Task Status” field.
Enter the estimated duration of the task in the “Est. Duration” field.
Specify any activities for carrying out the task in the “Activities” multiline.
Click the “Create” pushbutton.

You can create a task by copying the details from an already existing task. You can also copy all the details of the task or to selectively copy the skill requirements, spares requirements, tool requirements and other resource requirements from the task that is being copied.
Enter the task from which you wish to copy the details in the “From Task” field in the “Copy” group box.
Check any or all of the following check boxes if you wish to copy the task along with its resource requirements. Alternatively you can check the “All” check box to copy all the resource requirements of the task.
The “Skill Reqt” check box to copy the skill requirments.
The “Spare Reqt” check box to copy the spare requirements.
The “Tool Reqt” check box to copy the tool requirements.
The “Other Res. Reqt” check box to copy the other resource requirements.
