Engineering Change Control – An overview
Introduction
Changes to products occur frequently in industries, where initial product designs are often continuously evolving prototypes. Changes also occur due to technological advances, changes in consumer demand, and fluctuations in the availability of components and raw materials. Engineering Change (EC) enables you to control new item revisions, bill of material, process or even drawing changes. Based on the Requisitions for change, you can work in a collaborative way to implement the changes as is required in the organization. Engineering change can be implemented for multiple items at the same time, and affecting multiple Bills or Processes. Each of the affected items may in turn have more than one component that is revised as part of the same engineering change. The EC process consists of three steps:
Engineering change request.
Engineering change analysis.
Engineering change implementation.
Feature Highlights
Support for date based and use-up effectively.
Support for item, bill and process revisions.
