Create Engineering Change Request
This page allows you to create engineering change requests for the items. Tell me more
Select the “Create Engineering Change Request” link under the “Engineering Change Control” business component.
The “Create Engineering Change Request” page appears.
Enter the following details:
ECR No. |
The unique number identifying the engineering change request. Mandatory. It can be either a system generated number or manually entered number. If ECR number is system generated, then the system retrieves the numbering type with order type and also retrieves the number scheme and last generated number, to generate a new ECR No. If the ECR No is specified, the system checks whether the ECR No already exists or not. If it exists, the system will display an error message. |
Click the “Get” pushbutton to retrieve the engineering change request details.

ECR Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the engineering change request. You can select from "Active", "Inactive", "Authorized", "Resolved" or "Implemented". The system displays “Active” by default on launch of the page. You can set the document status as "Active" or "Inactive" status only. The system checks whether the engineering change permissions exist for the control unit requesting the engineering change. The options available are: |

Use the drop-down list box to select the “Maintained By” control unit. The system retrieves the control units from the “Organisation Model”. |

ECR Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the engineering change. You can select from "Engineering", "Production", "Subcontracting" or "All". The system displays “Production” by default on launch of the page. The options available are |

Priority |
The priority based on which the engineering change request is to be executed. The system displays “1” by default on launch of the page. The range is between “1” (maximum) to “9” (least). |
Requested By |
The person who is requesting the engineering change. Mandatory. The system displays “Logon Username” by default on launch of the page . |
EC Benefits |
The cost saving accrued by implementing the engineering change. The number specified is the savings accrued in local currency value. |
EC Need Date |
The date by which the engineering change is to be implemented. The system checks whether the engineering change need date is earlier than the current date and displays an error message accordingly. |
Requested Date |
The date on which the engineering change is requested. Mandatory. The system displays “Current Date” by default on launch of the page . |
EC Impl. Cost |
The cost of implementing the engineering change. |
Addl. Information |
Any additional information pertaining to the engineering change. |

Click the “Create ECR” pushbutton to create the engineering change request.
The system saves the engineering change details along with the requested by as “Login User ID” and requested date as “Current System Date” for engineering change request number. If the status of the engineering is set to “Active”, then the system sends a message to the “Authorizer”.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Item Revision” link at the bottom of the page to modify the item revision details.
Select the “Edit Component Revision” link at the bottom of the page to modify the component revision details.
Select the “Edit Process Plan Revision” link at the bottom of the page to modify the process Plan revision details.
Select the “Attach Notes” link at the bottom of the page to modify the engineering change notes details.
Select the “Edit Engineering Change Request” link at the bottom of the page to modify the engineering change requests.
Select the “Edit EC Steps” link at the bottom of the page to modify the engineering change steps.
Select the “Implement Engineering Change” link at the bottom of the page to implement the engineering changes.

The login ID of the user who created the engineering change request. |
Created Date |
The date on which the engineering change request was created. |
Create Engineering Change Request - An overview
The purpose of engineering change could be to effect changes in the design of the item or the usage of an alternate item or changes in the process plan to manufacture the item. Any user who has permissions to create an engineering change request can make a request using this page. You can specify the engineering change request along with other request details like the purpose of creating the request, the problems for which the request is raised and the benefits derived on initiating the request.
You can also define the date on which the engineering change is required and requested together with the cost of implementing the engineering change. After furnishing the necessary information the engineering change request number can be generated automatically by the system using the numbering scheme defined.

Maintained by must be defined in the “Create Control Unit” activity of the “Organization Model” business component.
