Create Asset Structure Code – A summary of the activity
An asset structure is a pre-defined template that can be used for defining equipment that has similar characteristics. You can define an asset structure by a unique code and specify the type of the asset structure. You can attach trouble shooting guides, parameters, spare parts and inspection points to the asset structure. When equipment is created using the asset structure, it automatically inherits the trouble shooting guides, parameters, inspection points, task and procedure categories and the spare parts that are attached to the asset structure.
An asset structure can be of the following types:
Rotable – This indicates that the asset structure can can serve as a template for creating equipment that are of type “Rotables”. A rotable is the equipment that moves from equipment to another, during its active life cycle.
Normal – This indicates that the asset structure can serve as a template for creating equipment that are of type “Normal”.
Spares – This indicates that the asset structure is a spare structure. A “Spares” structure cannot be used to create equipment. You can attach the spares structure to any asset structure in the hierarchy of asset structures.

What you can do in this activity
Attach parameters to the asset structure
Attach inspection points to the parameters of the asset structure
Attach spare parts and trouble shooting guides to the asset structure
Attach task or standard procedure to the asset structure
An asset structure is a pre-defined template that can be used for defining equipment that has similar characteristics. You can define an asset structure in this activity by a unique code and specify the type of the asset structure.
Use the “Create Asset Structure Code” page to create an asset structure.
Attach parameters to the asset structure
You can attach parameters to the asset structure. These parameters are automatically attached to the equipment that is created using the asset structure. These parameters are used for monitoring the performance of the equipment.
Use the “Asset Structure Parameters” page to attach parameters to the asset structure.
Attach inspection points to the parameters of the asset structure
You can specify various inspection points for the parameters of an asset structure. These inspection points are automatically attached to the equipment that is created using the asset structure and would be used for monitoring the performance of the equipment.
Use the “Inspection Points” page to attach inspection points to the parameters of the asset structure.
Attach spare parts and trouble shooting guides to the asset structure
You can attach spare parts to an asset structure that is of type “Spares”. Spares are attached to the asset structures of type “Normal” or “Rotable”. When equipment are created from asset structures of type “Normal” or “Rotable”, the spares are automatically defaulted to the equipment.
Use the “Asset Structure Spare Parts” page to attach spare parts to the asset structure.
You can also attach trouble shooting guides to the asset structure. A trouble shooting guide consists of a list of problems that are commonly reported in the equipment and the corrective action to be taken for solving such problems. The trouble shooting guides that are attached to the asset structure are automatically attached to the equipment created using the asset structure. These trouble shooting guides can be referred to, whenever a problem or failure is reported in the equipment.
Use the “Asset Structure TSGs” page to attach trouble shooting guides to the asset structure.
Attach task or standard procedure to the asset structure
You can attach task or procedure categories to the asset structure. These task or procedure categories are automatically defaulted to the equipment created from the asset structure.
Use the “Asset Structure Task/SP” page to attach task and procedure categories to the asset structure.
