Create Location – A summary of the activity
This activity allows you to define a location in the organization. A location can refer to any one of the following:
the physical location within the plant where the equipment is installed
any location where the equipment may be moved for repair, storage or testing
any other location that you may wish to define, such as “Office premises” and “Warehouses”.
You can carry out maintenance activities on locations. For example, locations in a highly corrosive environment may require a special surface coating. Similarly, there may be locations where dust is accumulated due to the presence of a chimney, and may require a more frequent cleaning than other locations in the plant.
The location created in this activity must be attached to the primary system, if maintenance activities are to be carried out on the location. A system is a logical arrangement of locations in a plant. A primary system is a system, to which all the locations in the plant must be attached so that maintenance can be carried out on them.
You can create a location using the “Create Location” page. You can also specify the planning group for the location using this page. This planning group will approve, forward or reject the work requests or work orders that are raised on the location or on the equipment installed in the location.
