Suppose a demand for an item is raised on 20th September and a scheduled receipt for the item is expected on 1st October. The system pegs the demand to the scheduled receipt on 1st October.
However, if there is another demand for the same item on 26th September, the system removes the previous pegging and pegs the demand on 26th September to the scheduled receipt expected on 1st October. This is referred to as “Soft Pegging”.
If you have chosen “Hard Pegging”, the system does not remove the previous pegging and pegs the demand on 26th September to any future scheduled receipt.
Reserving parts for the work order – An overview
You can reserve spare parts in this page. You can reserve spare parts for a work order that is selected in the previous page, or you can enter a work order in this page and reserve spare parts for it. You can reserve spare parts for the work order or for every task belonging to the work order. You can reserve spare parts by specifying the following details:
The item and variant of the spare part to be reserved.
The warehouse form which the item is reserved.
The unit of measurement of the item.
The status of the item as in the warehouse.
The scheduled quantity of the item for the work order.
The quantity of spare parts that must be reserved.
Whether the item must be hard pegged or not.
Note: For every demand raised for a disposition item, the system will try to peg it to an available stock or will try to peg it to a schedule receipt. If that doesn't happen, the system will consider the scheduled quantity as a problem quantity.
You can then select the item and reserve it for the work order. If the quantity to be reserved is available, the system reserves the quantity. Otherwise the system considers the quantity as problem quantity.
You can also unreserve an item that is already reserved. When an item is unreserved, the demand that is created for the item is removed.
